#OTD 10/29/1971 President Nixon received the Silver Buffalo Award from representatives of the Boy Scouts of America. In addition, the President presented the Boy Scouts with a certificate of appreciation for Operation Reach, a drug abuse education and action program, which was an effort to create open channels of communication and understanding between the youths of the nation, their peers, and their parents.
