Operation: Ruby Slippers
Some of you might know that my son Laddin died recently, and in the wake of his death, Ree and I are trying to get moved back to Kansas.
So Amee (now the official artist for Blue Crash Kit, the webcomic we're relaunching) started a thing called Operation: Ruby Slippers (Kansas, ruby slippers, get it?) to help raise money to get us back there as quickly as possible, since it would take us several more months to save up for it on our own.
We're already offering art incentives, like original art cards, full-size ink commissions, and cameos in the comic once it relaunches (which is kind of on hold until we find a place and get moved in).
But also, since I've got a few published stories under my belt and will be having more published, I'm thinking of doing character insertions as an incentive to donate.
As in, on one level, you get a character named after you who makes a cameo appearance in an upcoming story, at another level you get to describe the character (and yes, it can be you), and perhaps at the highest level, you get to name, participate in the description of, and give three personality traits for a recurring supporting character.
Whatcha think of that?
(Oh, and since we're not caught up with the classic strips yet, I'll post examples of some of Amee's official BCK art later, or maybe find a way to get the old site running, since the more recent art is obviously better than the early comics. For examples of my writing, see http://robhamm.com/published-works/)
