OP OC Week
Day 3: Pride
She always thought back about why she even took the job. It was insane, any woman would have said no, refused because of what they had to carry. Many women in her profession had done the same. Why did she do the same? It was dangerous, life threatening. And for what? A few thousand beri?
OPOC Week
Day 2: Truth
She knew it was bound to happen. There was no way escaping it, especially when you’re surrounded by water. The man was like a cat, just a bit too curious, yet still patiently waiting until he could pounce.
One Piece OC Week, Days 1 & 2: Family/Truth
I’m totally cheating by combining the first 2 days, but hey, they kind of go hand in hand! Anyway, this is actually something I had written for the fanfic, but it happens a loooong way down the road.
"I think I've figured it out," she said quietly, her cold fingers digging into her palms. "But I want to hear you say it..." Mara's next words were barely audible, just a hint of uncertainty in them. "Are you my father?"
Van remained motionless, though his lips pursed at the question. He was silent for a moment, the suspense practically putting her on pins and needles. Just before she could open her mouth to demand a response from him, he moved to stand; slowly, as if he had all the time in the world. As if he were either savoring this moment or had been absolutely dreading it.
He turned to face her, wearing an unreadable expression, his features illuminated beneath the pale moonlight. When his eyes met hers, however, she could see that they held a certain softness within. It made her feel uneasy all of a sudden, and in that moment she felt an uncontrollable urge to stop the entire conversation. She could backpedal furiously, she could just walk away. Anything to block out whatever came next. Maybe she really didn't want to know after all. She'd been perfectly fine her entire life without knowing who her father was, hadn't she?
But there was no going back from what she had just set in motion. She helplessly watched the word form on his lips, frozen to her spot.
His reply seemed to resonate throughout the calm nighttime atmosphere.
"Yes."
Mara felt her heart sink. She'd been expecting it, but she still felt the shock as it struck her like a punch to the gut, washing over her from head to toe. Her mouth went dry and she swallowed, trying to find her voice. He'd said it. He'd given her the answer she had asked for.
Impulse took over just then and before she could fully register what she was doing, Mara lunged forward. She threw all her weight into the punch as her fist shot forward. A loud 'crack' split the air when her knuckles connected with his jaw and Van immediately stumbled backward, nearly losing his footing.
"You're a liar," she seethed through clenched teeth, her hands still balled into fists at her sides. "You bastard! You coward! COWARD!!" She shouted again, starting toward him as though she wanted to hit him again, her face contorted in a sneer. "You knew and you just kept it to yourself! You're a selfish bastard and I want NOTHING to do with you! Just stay the hell away from me!!"
He said nothing. Even as he wiped the blood from his chin with the sleeve of his shirt, his gaze never left her. He watched her trembling fists and shaking shoulders as she turned her back to him and stormed off toward the house.
There was nothing to say. He had known she'd be angry. He knew she might never forgive him.
Van couldn't blame her.
One Piece OC Week Day 2: Truth
Day 1: Family (Miranda and Hamza)
In which Law attempts to talk to Nerina about waterbending, and she doesn’t want to talk about it as much. (At this point Nerina is traveling with Law as she looks for the remains of the Whitebeard pirates)
OPOC Week Day 1:Family
So I had time (thank you gods) and I went and drew the Foul Females’ family.
The first one is of Seras and her twin brother Riley. Both lived in the slums of an island in the North Blue. Though times for them, but they managed to live and work together for so long. Riley was the arms while Seras was the brains. Like the stereotypical twins, they shared the same thoughts and ideas adn worked in synchronicity, despite their sight different in ability.
However, Riley gets found by the Marines while he was stealing food for Seras and the 2 never saw each other again. Seras thinks he’s dead, but as for what actually happened to him...well, you guys will find out soon enough -w-
The one on the top right is Lea and her grandmother. Her parents were exiled from the island because they did the taboo (no marriage between people of the North and South) Lea was left with her grandmother who took care of her for 6 years until she left for the civil war again. While together, Lea’s grandmother was the world to lea and spent every moment with her
However, as Lea grew older, her Gran insisted Lea on joining the war and forcing her to fight whereas Lea wanted nothing to do with the war. This caused a schism between them that lasted until the end of the war. Her Gran did everything she could to improve lea’s status in the Militia when Lea finally joined. Her goal was to make Lea the next Supreme Commander of the Cards Militia. Sad to say, when Lea deserted the island, her Gran had no choice but to name her as a traitor to the South.
When Lea came back, her Gran took her duty as a soldier first and went to hunt Lea down. Both went into a battle that Lea won and her gran accepted defeat and Lea’s choice for freedom. By the end of the war, things were better and although they are still not close, they both have reserved respect and love for each other.
The last one is of Ruth and her mom and dad. Her childhood was a very good and peaceful one. The island they lived in was one that was very pacifist and was not really warming to a gunsmith and former mercenary. However, that didn’t stop the 3 from being one of the closest families.
However, when Ruth was the age of 15, her mother was caught by the Marines. Because she didn’t want her husband and daughter to get involved. Mrs. Cota made the Marines agree that she would come with them quietly. From there, Ruth felt immense guilt for not shooting when given the opportunity to shoot. Her father went into grief, but continued to look after Ruth until she decided to work as a mercenary like her mother. 3 years later, her father disappeared from the island and has never been heard of.
When Luffy went into Impel Down, he allowed Ruth’s mother to escape and search for Ruth. For a while, she stayed with Ruth and told her that she knew where her father was and to not worry, from there, Ruth’s mother left to join her husband in the Grand Line
