Reposting this as it's been brought to my attention that the numbers of ukraine casualties may differ from the last post.

However, my point regarding the world's double standards stands. This is directed towards the western countries and the UN supporting ukraine

We're not saying don't support Ukraine, by all means no innocents should go through this, but perhaps DONT claim you support struggling countries when you're (governments) literally funding other colonizers on the side. It shows your double standards. I am referring to the US supplying arms to Israel (common knowledge on the Internet) and the ongoing struggle of the Palestinian people that has been going on for the past 75 years.

Let's normalize educating ourselves about the struggles of all groups

When Christians talk about their persecution they are called Islamophobic or intolerant to Hindu, Buddhist or Atheist extremists. Meanwhile we are the most persecuted religion in the world. It’s not the other way around.

I know there are some people within marginalized communities who are truly uncomfortable with labels. And that's fine.

But can we all just acknowledge that when people in the "invisible majority" (more accurately, the oppresser class) say "too many labels" or "labels don't matter," they are almost always trying to erase a marginalized group, ignore that group's struggles (and their own culpability or complicity), or deny that group's successes?

All they really mean is "I don't want to acknowledge that anyone outside of my group exists, contributes, or matters."

One of the things I understand least is that we have shows like True Blood and franchises like X-Men, which are metaphors for oppression of groups and are hugely popular...so popular they overshadow media which is actually about real life oppression.

So much of my own understanding of resistance, social justice and decolonization has emerged at personal and interpersonal levels, yet the work that happens at this scale often goes unseen. Since we’re talking about allyship, I think it’s important to talk about the various scales of activism. I have seen a lot of people claiming to be ‘Indigenous allies’, highlighting their involvement in public actions such as going to rallies, writing articles, or participating in protests. I don’t want to minimize the importance of these, but equating this type of activism with allyship can render invisible the quiet interpersonal work that is also needed in order to be a good ally. And, importantly, it can reproduce the idea that activism only happens at the highly visible, public scale of protests, rallies and actions, where many of us engage in activist work in our daily lives but it goes unseen, unacknowledged and untheorized as ‘activism’.
