If you are not actively trying to take down an oppressive system (in whichever small way you can handle), you are helpng enforcing it. Passive acceptance of a system is still acceptance of the system, and your refusal to stand up to it is helping perpetuate it. So if you are not actively challenging sexism, for instance, you are assisting it, and that's honestly just as bad as creating it, because no system can be maintained without a majority actively AND passively supporting it.

also, if you say a shitty thing once and don't own up to it and genuinely apologize, but instead actively argue with and trigger the people who called you out, you are def still a shitty person. sorry not sorry.
