What an interesting place. No ghouls, but plenty of non-humans. So far, no immediate threats and no one trying to hunt and/or kill and/or eat Kaneki, so that’s a bit of a relief. That doesn’t mean he’s not watching his back--ever vigilant of those around him. Apparently there is another fellow whose appetite is similar to Kaneki’s, but he still has his reservations. Cannibalism is frowned upon in most societies, including this one.
Kaneki had been on an errand for domestic supplies--specifically a coffee maker and a hefty amount of coffee--when he comes across a familiar face in the apartment complex lobby.
“Midna,” he nods to her in greeting. She looks as if she’s starting to get settled in, too. “Would you like help with anything...?” Without wanting to mention the “mafia game,” Kaneki feels like he owes her at least something for her kindness--along with not being too upset with him for the whole poisoning thing.
