I admit generic fantasy is my nr 1 guilty pleasure, ESPECIALLY if it follows industry trends and follows every cliché and predictable story beat imaginable. It’s just so fun and pure and easy to read. 

But sometimes I just want a really long-winded character drama in a fantasy setting but really that’s just a canvas. What really matters is how the cast interacts with each other... and how their words and actions influence each other... and how their position affects them as people... how they chose to deal with the situations given to them. 

Just one city, one location, just conflict and tears, and love and drama. But magic can stay, I like magic.
