You can also watch the speedpaint of it here on youtube. (though be aware the art app doesn't show you everything I pressed undo on lol)
[ID: Three digital drawings against a grey background, showing an original species, a "banded-legged bluesprey". It has the shape of an osprey, first drawn mid-flight with wings raised, then perching in a tree facing forward, then viewed symetrically from below in flight with wings fully extended. The body is black, with a white cap on the head, and deep sapphire blue eyes and beak. The front of the wings and bands on the tail are sky blue. The primary feathers are black with a single vertical white stripe tracing the vein of the feather, with small spots of white at the base of each primary. The tail is tipped in black, and the legs are black with thick white bands that turn to smaller white stripes on the feet. There are twin rows of short, thin, horizontal white stripes on the throat. End ID.]
There are many legends surrounding the sudden appearance of dozens of "types" of mutated ospreys, from mad scientists, to GMOs gone wild, to alien experiments. Someone out there probably knows for sure, but they aren't telling.
The banded-legged bluesprey is one of the many mutants known as a "bluesprey", known for their prominent blue coloration in different patterns. This "species" (if they can even be called that) are known as the banded-legged bluesprey, to differentiate them from the black-bodied bluesprey, which is near identical, except for missing the white bands on its legs and throat.
With their shocking colorations, there is no shortage of photo and video footage of mutant ospreys, as they attract attention wherever they appear. Some see them as a curse, a warning of environmental destruction, others as a blessing, showing the inherent adaptability of life.
Some rumors say that the mutant ospreys aren't just different in coloration, but in deeper ways as well. Some say they're telepathic, others say they can perfectly mimic human voices. Some say if you follow them into the water, you'll be teleported to another land, others say their feathers can be "charged" with moonlight and used to travel through time.
Who knows which are true and which are just flights of imagination?
If you want to see more mutant osprey species like this, or other public domain species or characters, you can request an idea or design for every $1 you donate to help Mohammed and his family in Gaza, or any other mutual aid fund!
