#rant #ive never used onlyfans but i assume similarly this applies if onlyfans is where ur content creation would sell best?#but yeah like. the thing w paid models for stuff is like. people who use patreon for example #or kofi #generally advertize on youtube where they're free to find. or here. or twitter. or insta or a blog searchable on google #then their patreon/kofi has additional content or is just a tips area etc #and that tends to work best i think because. social media is ok for garnering a bigger audience - which u need to make money #but its more like marketing/advertizing. u cant really make money on it until ur already big #and then on stuff like youtube. youtube has an iffy policy so by running a patreon or kofi Too #you can control your income/audience relationship even if youtube itself does something shitty #(like that time youtube demonetized anything mentioning lgbt as not kid appropriate agh)#so like. even in the case of sites with paid models. its more reliable to personally manage a patreon or kofi for ur specific fanbase #and u wont make money monetizing on the social media site until u've already garnered a following #(i suspect twitter and tumblr may help most since people can reblog which increases chances of being seen by new people - versus instagram #where reblogging is rare and the algorithm doesnt always show new stuff at all in the search)#and then tumblr? i would not trust with managing money without being hacked tbh.#it doesnt have a good track record of working with its userbase on issues.#whereas like. i dont like how youtube randomly changes policy and it handles copyright awful #but i've never heard of money transfer issues assuming it didnt randomly demonetize a video.#patreon and kofi meanwhile i've used and work great. my favorite. particularly kofi just because its simple and patreon wanted to make u pay #for simply having a creator account. whereas kofi has never tried to go that route #just like. as an artist #my art blog has 800 ish followers. ive opened commisions and it was not enough followers for anyone to want to buy a commission lol or even #reblog a post. so if that had been a paid account? it would probably never have even gotten that many followers or more exposure to new peop #who might decide to follow me so the blog can keep growing and hopefully eventually GET a big enough audience to sell commissions. so like.#a kofi helps me because random people can decide to one off tip. which is much more likely for me than a paid subscription at this point #and if i did paid subscription? id do it on a site NOT youtube or tumblr cause id want more monetary security and want more of the money to #go to ME (youtube chat donations at one point took SO much profit away from the cresator that creators reminded ppl NOT to use it to donate)
