Something people fail to understand is if you don't communicate how you feel in a relationship (romantic or platonic) and suddenly withdraw from someone instead of telling them something (i no longer want to be your friend/partner, for example) and just drag out the inevitable, is that youre ACTIVELY hurting the person youre trying to "protect" just because you dont want to hurt their feelings
