correct, but you can transition in the middle of a narrative. if you’re not out as transgender, obviously you won’t be referred to with the proper pronouns (lest someone guesses youre trans)

ralsei describes themself as “the prince of the dark” in the prophecy. there has been a consistent theme of “breaking the prophecy” in deltarune, though i will admit, is much more prevalent with susie rather than ralsei.
BUT, consistently in the game, ralsei has had a fixation on staying the exact same way forever, because of what the prophecy says they can do. and, now, theyre opening up to allow themselves to… just be ralsei. not feeling as much of the need to conform as much. especially in this chapter, they don’t mask their despise for flowery.
yknow what mr. jarona here does? stares right into ralsei’s eyes, and calls them “impossible.”

while, yes, this could be a coincidence, BUT toby fox has consistently had open queer representation in his games for the longest time ever. characters explicitly using they/them (napstablook, jongler, kris, and many more), multiple canon queer pairings (blue and yellow, undyne and alphys, and many more), and multiple canonical transgender characters (mettaton, mad mew mew, and likely more).
i would not doubt that toby fox would make ralsei trans.
oh and also the “prince of the dark” can just be lancer, it’s not like it HAS to be ralsei.
