[visibly trembling with fear] is this real
if you're ever wondering what popular media is getting wrong about basically any premodern society, the answer is that there are never enough lawsuits
there's a common idea that in the olden days all disputes were resolved through violence, but even in settings where that was true, people would still sue each other about it.
Indeed a huge portion of written sources we have for the Rus' are legal documents inscribed on sheets of birch bark. I love that Onfim's drawings are circulating again, but you must understand that literally like 90% of birch bark documents are legal documents recording debts.
I suspect there's a preservation bias at hand. Just like in modern law, there were good reasons to create, keep, and store legal documents en masse. They necessarily deal with matters serious enough (huge class bias here) to warrant institutional forms of justice being implemented. Minimally legal documents must be kept through the lifetimes of those directly involved, and in many cases deliberately preserved well beyond that as reference material for jurisprudence.
Which isn't to suggest people back then were extraordinarily litigious; rather, they were comparably litigious, and law is one of those little portholes through which we can view their lives with any clarity because it survived in greater quantities than other elements of their daily lives.

There’s a liquor store near my house that seems to be run exclusively by frat boys. They lovingly curate these bags, which I browsed today while “Oops I Did It Again” played through the store speakers. This is art to me, there is beauty everywhere for those with eyes to see it

Everyone loves me for my repetitive speech, my odd noises, my constant forgetfulness, and my repetitive speech
you know, i've always loved people fleshing out the mandalorians outside of/beyond KT and disney worldbuilding, but after months and months of the same weird and increasingly disturbing behavior from white fans i am getting really really sick of reading posts or seeing fanart and immediately thinking to myself,
"hm, this is cultural appropriation," or, "this person is using a real-world culture to exoticize characters they arbitrarily consider generic," or even just, "wow this person is a racist and they have genuinely no idea"
so if you needed a reminder or don't comprehend how life works,
tā moko is a closed, extremely sacred practice of the māori. it should not be drawn and you sure as hell should not fish it out wholesale and drop it into star wars without the most remote comprehension of its cultural and religious significance just because temuera morrison is māori
the belief that "good" "oppressed" ethnicities and/or people have culture and "oppressors" only "steal" culture is completely racist and absolutist
stealing elements of cultures other than your own (especially unusual practices or indigenous practices) to make a fictional culture more exotic and strange is by definition cultural appropriation and racist, and you should stop doing it
(legends) canonically mandalorians tried to colonize the entire galaxy and were nuked by the jedi about it. depicting them as entirely blameless victims of the republic/empire is entirely your choice but it's not based in reality. do NOT make me read the words "the vizslas are british because they sided with colonizers" ever again in my life.

Let's fucking go! You can find material online that talks about the tactics used by police. These same materials will often talk about things to avoid doing so they don't lose their grip on the crowd. Study that material, learn those things they need to avoid doing and figure out how to trigger it. Be smart, don't forget about your comrades, and prioritize the safety of yourself and others.
sold out :/
