Actually no, thinking about the aftermath of an AU where the whole Mimic situation happens whilst the Plex is still open, with the animatronics never getting destroyed.
Specifically, I'm thinking about Roxy, Cassie, Cassie's dad (Eddie), Vanessa, the Minis, the Raceway construction team and DJ with some small assistance from the others, trying to get all of this information to a detective on the missing persons case. The case about the construction workers vanishing. You know. The workers that died to Mimic. That Fazbear pretended didn't exist afterwards.
If Fazbear catches them doing this, fuck knows what's gonna happen to any of them. They have to be so careful but they also have to make sure they can keep a steady flow of information reaching the detective and possibly even the press (for public pressure). Vanessa, Eddie and some of the construction staff are tasked with getting these people into the Plex in the right place at the right time with the right information, so when they meet Roxy, Cassie and whoever else, they can quickly figure out who their informants are here.
My idea for the detective is that Vanessa meets him, shakes his hand and passes a note with instructions on. He goes to the Plex for the first time with his kid or something and adds to his new guest profile that he's a marine biologist. When sitting with his kid, who's bored shitless from not being allowed to go have fun yet, Roxy approaches with Cassie like "hey there kid! You don't look like you're having a good time. You all good?" and this is what opens a conversation for her and Cassie to drop both of the codewords on them. Detective was looking around, hardly paying too much attention to them, wondering where this informant he was told about is at, and then Roxy mentions he's a marine biologist and hey does he know about dolphins? Cassie asks about stingrays and clownfish and he swears he got whiplash from how fast his head turned to them.
Like oh shit his informants are a fucking child and an animatronic wolf?! What the fuck?! And then Roxy hands him and the kid a free gift each, with some information hidden in the detective's, sweeps the kid off on an adventure to the Superstarcade and when she brings them back she's like "if there's anything else you need, you know where to find us! Or Nessa maybe. She's the night guard. She passes messages onto me from friends sometimes. She's pretty nice." Detective is fucking baffled when he gets home and checks what she gave him. It's a small amount of information, with instructions on their plan to give him more, along with some requests for anonymity and some protections should Fazbear catch them. Unless he can guarantee these, they can't help him.
Like. What the fuck, he expected an employee or something not the fucking robo dog and some random kid??? Hello????? Is this a game????? This information is so fucking convincing though whadda hell?????
Journalist is in the same boat. They keep wanting to ask questions but keep getting steamrolled. All questions from them and the detective have to be done via the same sneaky, under the table methods as they were originally contacted in. Both of them have to somehow be convinced of Roxy and the others' sentience and both of them need to time their moves in accordance to eachother and within the time frames their informants give them. If either of them make a move too early, Fazbear is going to be able to sweep this under the rug without anyone noticing.
The utter confusion of the situation, the anxiety from balancing across such a fine line, the planning, the fear of any mistake being their last... Fun situation!
