how do the animatronics deal with the summer heat? their internal cooling fans are probably working overtime to keep their systems from overheating. also i know how you feel, summer heat can be brutal sometimes
Yeah the heat wave has been brutal so far. It's been cooler today (thankfully) but yeah it's been rough ngl. Weirdly some days the temperature has actually been increasing as it's gotten darker??? Not sure what's up with that.
Having a fucked sleep schedule helps though because I get to sleep through the hottest parts of the day and it makes you realise real quick that all those lions and wolves and cats and whatever that are most active during the dusk and dawn? They're so fucking right. They know what they're doing. We should be doing that too, it's so much easier when the sun decides it wants your coagulated blood.
ANYWAY TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION
The animatronics of the Mega Plex likely have absolutely no problem with the heat waves. There's few windows for any greenhouse effect to get them, any windows they do have are heavily tinted, and it's based in North America and full of big vents you can crawl through so it's probably well ventilated with plenty of air conditioning. Then, of course, the animatronics have their own cooling systems anyway so they're probably absolutely fine.
However, this is Fazbear we're talking about so I'm guessing the air conditioning and the good ventilation isn't consistent at all. Like I bet there's a shit ton of staff areas and random corners of the building that are just on fire pretty much constantly when the summer hits. I would say they might turn the air conditioning off on a night to save money, but like... why would they? They leave literally everything else on all night. If anything, that shit would probably still be cooling the place in a blizzard or something.
If it ever came down to it though, there is an ice cream parlour in Bonnie Bowl and a lot of freezers the animatronics can go sit in to cool down. They probably wouldn't ever really need to though, they seem fine.
I was thinking the other day when the heatwave was cooking me alive that the fact the animatronics live in a giant building with constant air conditioning and thus, have probably never had to worry about this ever, might really struggle if they were ever outside the Mega Plex during the summer. If they've never had to test the limits of their internal cooling systems, would they even be able to tell when they need to actually do something to cool down instead of trusting it to do its job on its own?
I was specifically thinking of Fiona Lives AU and having Fiona find Roxy just taking a nap in one of those big chest freezers full of ice like that's a normal thing to do, but outside of that AU? I can see literally all of them doing that too lmao
I imagine outside of the Mega Plex where they have a lot more options for cooling down, most of them would probably opt to hang around in the shade or jump in the lake nearby. Monty and Chica would practically live in that lake given half the chance anyway so they're probably like, "heatwave? What heatwave?"
DJ would absolutely struggle the most outside. While I'm of the belief he's maybe less than a storey tall, that's still pretty damn tall. I know the place is surrounded by forest and mountains and all, but it'd have to be some pretty dense forest to reliably give him enough shade to cool down.
And of course, he's fucking huge. Why in the world would Fazbear make him waterproof? His hands? Sure! They're waterproof! The rest of him? Probably not! When is this ever going to be a problem in the Mega Plex? What kid is going to spill their drink over his head when most kids are the size of his teeth? Yeah, that's not happening. He can't go be the new Loch Ness Monster in the lake with the others.
But neither can the Minis because there's no way they're waterproof either so at least he's not alone on that one! The Minis are fine though. There's so much shade and pretty much everyone casts enough of a shadow that they never have to be in the sunlight if they don't want to. And they live in the kind of areas where the ventilation is probably the worst so they're probably used to dealing with the heat by now anyway. DJ does not have this luxury.
However, DJ would love a hose. It might not cool him down much, but give him one of those industrial hoses or whatever and he can have his fun blasting everyone into next year with it. He may not be allowed to participate in the water fight for his own safety, but you can bet your life he's gonna win the water fight lmao
Of course, this is either during or after they all realise that hey uh... they can over heat actually. They never had to worry about that much before and now they have to figure it out, but once they kinda get through that learning curve? I think they'll be fine.
And if they're not, DJ can always obliterate them with the hose
