I cannot stress enough how much I love the opening and ending themes to Donbrothers. The ending song, Don Boo!, particularly is just such a wonderful way to play off the show in a rather upbeat and iconic way.

Sha’ro’s panic immediately became Kali’s. Their proximity ensured it—their bond enforced it.

Sha’ro looked up at him, his eyes wide. It wasn’t quite a request for permission, but it was something close. The man was being torn in two, half drawn toward his people, his duty, and half toward Kes, the boy it was clear he lived only to protect—there was no contest. They both knew it.

“Go after him,” Kali ordered, doing his best to convey his sincerity even through his visor.”

“Kali—”

“Go!” Kali barked, drawing his glaive and pulling himself up to his full height. “I’ll protect your people. Find the boy.”

For the first time since they’d met, Kali saw real horror in Sha’ro’s eyes, the desperate sort that cut through any remaining scrap of Kali’s confidence.The man took a few steps backward toward the alley Kes had disappeared into.

“Thank you,” Sha’ro breathed. “Be safe, Kali.”

Kali’s face hardened in a mask of determination. “Same to you.”

The two parted not for the first time, and certainly not for the last. But this felt different; this felt like it had the potential to be final.

Kali turned on his heel.

“Sha’ro!”

Sivv stopped, looking back at Kali with his lips parted in surprise.

“Alei’Okai.” Luna guide your hand.

Sha’ro smiled with a warmth that momentarily eclipsed his fear.

“Arun’Okai na,” he replied. Sol guide yours. Kali wondered how many centuries it had been since that blessing had been returned.
