Just in time for Pride Month, the Queer Animal Oracle: An Inclusive Deck & Guidebook released on May 19. Brought to us by the creators of the Queer Tarot, Ash+Chess, the Queer Animal Oracle brings us 60 vibrant, full-color cards, each featuring an animal alongside a real-life model from the queer community, all of whom are acknowledged individually within the guide. The guide itself features 160 full-color pages and six featured spreads, including a variation of the wheel of the year and the often overlooked spiral, among others.

Tarot vs Oracle: What's the difference? From thewitchoftheforest
There are 78 cards in a tarot deck & they come come as a traditionally structured deck split into the major and minor arcanas.
Tarot cards are divided into four suits - cups, wands, pentacles & swords*
There is no set number of cards in an oracle deck. Decks can be any size but usually contain 36-64 cards
Tarot cards share common themes and meanings. Most decks are based on Rider-Waite derivatives
There is no set structure to oracle decks and the cards in each deck will have its own independent meaning
Oracle decks follow their own sets of rules. They rarely have suits but are numbered for reference.**
End transcription. Found on pinterest.
Asterisks added by me.
*The suit names can vary depending on deck. A common variation is coins instead of pentacles.
** may vary. I've seen several with suits or groupings of some kind, and several that aren't numbered. (I'm a fan of numbering because it makes it easier to look things up, although doing it alphabetically also works in my opinion)
Birthdays and New Oracle Decks
Lil Cryptid Oracle Deck
Yesterday was my birthday - my 52nd - and like many people who definitely need our paychecks, I worked my full 6.5 hour Saturday shift at the vet clinic (I kiss puppies all day long and get paid for it), but afterward, since I only work till 2pm on Saturdays, I met my sister at a new (it's been there 5 months but this was our first chance at going) rock shop in Round Rock, Texas, called Unearthed. I planned to buy yet more crystals and maybe a new ring, and the cool thing is that my sister's birthday present to me was one of those Visa gift cards that can be used anywhere.
So I spent the whole amount (and a little over) to buy myself so much stuff there - their prices are AMAZING. Stones, a new ring, I adopted a coyote figure (they put broken or chipped figures or stones up for 'adoption' for $5 - and then you name them on the spot, and they make you a little adoption name sticker for it!), and while I wasn't going to buy myself yet another tarot deck (though they had a mushroom one that had tempted me), I did break down and buy the Lil Cryptid Oracle Deck (above). It is so precious, and it meshes well with my other decks that I read with regularly since I use multiple decks at a time to do my readings. Now what they advertise on the site above is the deck in a tin and there's even a "Lil Cryptid Field Guide," I only had the opportunity to get the deck in a box, no field guide booklet. However, the deck comes with three extra cards that have slightly more detailed information on each Lil Cryptid.
Did I mention that they're precious?
Now unfortunately on the creators' website above, they're out sold out of the deck, but I bet if you contact them, they'd let you know when they'll have them in stock again. Or maybe if you're lucky, you'll stumble on them in a quaint little crystal and new age shop like I did. I recommend them big time, though. Only 36 cards plus the guide cards. Looks like the website also offers another little deck they did together and two cloths to go with each deck for reading on. They're sold out of the little pouch, too, or else I might've bought that right now.
Also if you're in Round Rock, check this store out. They've got a lot of fun and gorgeous stones, and I know I'll be going back often. Especially since the owner offered that I could do readings there from time to time, so hey, I might finally have an outlet to jump in here and there to make a little extra on my Saturdays after my usual work shift.
This is why I have been reading Tarot for 30 years.
