From Publishing Goblin, LLC - The Goblin's Oracle Dice Await
In three days (May 1st, 2025), join @publishinggoblin (and me!) in the ephemeral smoke of a quiet night.
The 22 Seasons dice return, each face unique and custom, including @cryptotheism's Alchemists die, @charminglyantiquated's Mariner's die, and my Metamorphosis die.
Or venture into the unknown with the Keys dice set. The dice from the Misery Tarot (illustrated by @0ddoblivion, deliciously dark and twisted), Oracle of Play, and Hot Housewives Tarot find themselves among this set, and there is also a new 7-dice basis in this set: The Keepers of the Keys.
There are cloths, guide books, a chest, pins, and more (fantastic work by @ezraillo)! Tell a spooky friend or your favorite dice addict. 🎲
i did some divination due to my cousin passing away, and my mum often jokes about my cat being my familiar, but he just came up and changed one of the dice to change the entire reading from one of lonelyness to one of rest
You all thought I was only going to have a discount code for my ko-fi shop through the end of last year, didn't you? HA! I've got another one good on all physical items (blind book dates and handmade dice/cosmetic bags currently, and I am still working on some origami crane good luck charms) - the new discount code is: HI2025 and is good through the end of the week
And of course all tarot and oracle dice readings, are also still discounted for the same time frame, pay what you can starting at $3 each (usually $5 for dice and $7 for tarot)
So guess what just came in the mail today! (Err well not technically today as I was out of country but y’all know what I mean!)
That’s my copy of the 2nd edition Oracle Dice by @publishinggoblin, as you might know by my posts I am a big fan of Tarot and tarot adjacent practices but I also a big fan of the first oracle dice which I got as an add-on in one @publishinggoblin’s previous crowdfunding campaigns (believe it was for The Narmol Tarot 2nd Edition) which I absolutely adored. Haven’t really posted it much about it mostly because it more than an other form divination seems to almost gleefully cut to the heart of things and hit nothing but nerves, but not in a bad way? Honestly don’t know how to explain it, it’s just the reading we’re always intensely personal and raw, so I never felt comfortable posting about my readings with them.
Anyways, when this 2nd edition was announced I backed it almost immediately at the Etched in Stone tier, to get those fancy dice made of, you probably guessed it stone. So I’ve decided to do this rambling review first impression thing for… well anyone who wants it!
First a look at the mat
The very that jumps out at me is what an improvement it is over the first one! Not to say the first mat is bad, the things takes center stage of my tarot reading and in fact has shaped it radically I love it to bits but the design of this new mat is just 💋.
Plus the texture is just fantastic, has that fantastic smooth silky thing going that I just love to glide my hand along.
And then there is the second side, while the loss of the rubber bottom to prevent slippage is regrettable this second reading space is wonderful. I haven’t even cracked open the guide to see the traditional use and interpretations but I am already feeling inspired. I cannot wait to get started, and I have a distinct feeling this may well be taking over as the centerpiece of my divination practice going forward.
Now then, onto what is probably the main event, the Dice
Ahhhhhh they’re so preety 😍 As a reminder these are the fancier Etched in Stone tier dice, each is made of a different stone and the faces are all etched in and inked and look absolutely stunning in person. Just holding them is a treat and the noise they make when you shakey-shakey them in preparation for a throw is fantastic. I fear now that I have experienced non-plastic dice I will never be able to go back, I have yet to even properly cast them but I love them already.
But wait, there’s more!
There were two Oracle decks on offer so of course I had to get both.
On the right we got the Dice Face Oracle which turn each dice face into its own individual card along with a guide to reading them as cards, but also encourages you to read them as their dice versions meaning you have options when performing readings and I love that shit, there is nothing that I love more than a reading that evolves and shifts the more you stare and stew on it. Also every one of the dice face icons are excellently designed and having them in a bigger blown up form is wonderful.
On the left we got the 22 card Lords of Oracle deck. Each of the dice has its own lord who is an embodiment of their die with their own lore and my god I love this art! I can absolutely see myself pulling one of these cards and having on of these lords color a reading in a completely new light, the potential is just breathtaking.
And last but certainly not least, the tomes.
I haven’t had a chance to truly sit down and read the guide, but from a quick skimming it is still written in the same easy to understand way as the 1st edition. The first edition was a fantastic guide to a admittedly complex divination practice and as long as this second edition continues that with the new dice it is a welcome edition to the books I reference on the regular, plus having page size version of the Lords of Oracle art is just wonderful.
The reading journal is a fantastically designed tool especially for those beginning with these dice. I would have loved something like this for when I started with the first edition as it was a tad bit overwhelming with it’s… everything. I will most certainly be making use of it
Righto, that’s my first impressions/ review of the Oracle Dice 2nd edition done. Will be trying a few reading when I have a chance and will hopefully remember to talk about is here! So if you got any questions or if I forget to talk about the reading experience feel free to textually yell about it here or in my ask box, see y’all!
Readers, I have been blessed today to have the opportunity to perform an Oracle dice reading for a lovely friend of mine. Now, due to the nature of this reading this friend shall not be named, but they are aware and have given me permission to post my reading and my methods, and I hope you will follow me on this journey.
Before we do anything, however, let me introduce you all to my dice and my mat, courtesy of the wonderful @publishinggoblin. Seven is a dear friend of mine, and I adore their work.
The mat you see is divided into four quadrants, with a core at the center that acts as the central theme for the reading. How the dice fall and on which face they reveal is important to the context and my interpretation, and often they will connect with one another to give a broader context and message.
Now, come have a seat my dear. I will pour you a cup of your favorite tea, and we will go on this journey together.
You come with a question, a harsh one at that. "What is breaking?" you ask, and I whisper your plea to the dice as they're cast. They land as thus, and we take our first steps.
We start with a spread that is lacking a core, a sign that the question is perhaps too broad, or may not even be the right question at all, but look closer, for Fate has other, more deliberate plans for us.
I say that as a pun, of course, for I am referring to The Fate Die, the die that I always consult first, for it always brings an element of change to the reading through its actions and requests. Tonight it begs us to take the Die nearest it, in this case The Spring Die, and place it in the center of the reading. We do so, and by fulfilling this request we find ourselves in new balance, with The Jester Face of the Spring Die acting as our core.
This face is The Fool of the tarot, and often speaks to new beginnings marked by inexperience. It can mean many things, but I am afraid in this context that it carries the message that you’ve leapt without looking, and now you’re caught in a situation that you yourself are ill-prepared for. Without the knowledge and experience to guide you, we must look to the other dice to determine what is to come, and how to navigate the situation that you’re in. To start our journey, we shall go south, towards Spirit and Weal, where three dice lend their advice.
Winter, Suits, and The Alchemist, these three dice have landed in a loose triangle for us, carrying a message to guide us along. Winter lands on The Moon, a face of many phases that speaks to the illusions in our life, and that which is kept hidden from us. Suits land on Disks, dealing with the Material, on which it’s at it’s cusp. The Alchemist’s Die lands upon Iron, the opposite of Ephemeral and the solidity of human-forged metal. It is grounding, and grounding is the theme of this trio. You have spent far too long searching within yourself my dear, and have muddied yourself by focusing too deeply on unreality. To understand what I mean, we will look away for a moment, to another die, lost from the mat, deep in the territory of within.
The Balloon, a face of the Majors Die - it speaks to fleeting joys, impermanence, and the eventual fade. You look within yourself to find comfort and happiness in difficult times, but my dear, such comforts cannot last forever. The Material Dice rest right on the cusp, and approach Weal if you will heed their advice. You must ground yourself. You must be solid in the realities of the world around you.
You must look the world in the eye.
Moving North, we seek more answers in the mind. What is it that we hide from? For what reasons do we seek comfort? What is breaking? That is the question. I am sorry to say my dear that from here on this will not be an easy reading. Take a deep breath, take my hand, and have a sip of your tea. You will thank me for it. You are not alone.
Here in mind we have two dice faces that speak to each other in a rather unique way. First, we have the Elements Die, which lands on Water, and it sits beside The Mariner’s Die, landing on Ocean. These faces both speak to change in different ways, but Change quickly becomes the central theme surrounding The Jester’s Fate when taken in context with the dice that come later. These dice, and the others, all speak of a massive change in your life. It is an inevitable change, one that is beyond you, that you must quickly adapt to if you want to survive. You must learn the ebb and flow of the tides, to accept things beyond your control and move with them. Changes comes to our lives whether we will it or not.
The Autumn Die, resting in its season, and The Obstacle Die, in Summer near Woe, both reinforce the grand scope of this change, and the knowledge that it comes without care or regard to you or those around you. The ocean is mighty and vast, and you are caught up in it’s tides. The Autumn Die lands on Change itself, it’s spirit, the knowledge that all things must change, and The Obstacle Die lands on Ruin - The Tower - speaking of a grand, cataclysmic change in your life. I need not speak more of it. I have no doubt that you are aware of what this change may be, even if not consciously. In either case, you may take my hand, and remember that you have those you can rely on. Change is difficult, and this is one that you are woefully unprepared for.
Looking deeper into summer, we can see how these changes bring imbalance. The Summer Die sits in Without, It’s Star Face speaking to your goals and aspirations, at the mercy of forces you cannot control. The Relations Die and Harmony also sit without Without’s spectrum, but in summer - and they speak to an imbalance that is disrupting the harmony of your life. The Relations Die lands on other, a sign of control - an imbalance of power. Someone, or something, holds power over you, my dear, and you must acknowledge this fact, for it is breaking your natural cycle, the natural flow of your tides. It is for this reason that you must look the world in the eye, and remember what has been right in front of you all along.
There is, however, a glimpse of hope at the end of all things. All of these struggles will pass in time, and you will find yourself in Eclosion. This face of The Metamorphosis Die rests in spring, speaking of new beginnings on the horizon. Such beginnings will come after this time, and you will be in a place of vulnerability, but you will have the opportunity to shine. A transmutation of the self is imminent, and once again you will take the stage. You will rise from the ashes like a phoenix. All you must do in the meantime... is survive the tides long enough to get there.
I hope this reading is of use to you my dear. I will always be happy to add further insight if you wish. Until then, rest. Enjoy your tea and my garden, and know that you are loved.
