Synopsis:

How can you go wrong on a Burn release that includes the song New Morality? The song kills it. For a band with so many key songs (Godhead, Shall Be Judged, etc.), this is the one that stands out the most to me. The lyrics are so spot on. They are everything that hardcore and punk rock is about. Even if you dont agree with the purpose, these are heartfelt, passionate lyrics if there ever were any. The crencendo “Fight Back” always has had me raising my fists since I can remember and will continue to do so. Ok, enough reminiscing on old tunes done new, the rest of the record...So upon first lesson, surprisingly, but perhaps not so surprisingly, what sticks out the most are the drums...how I love Alan Cage! Wait...its not? Wow! The drums pound. The backups sound like they were lifted from the 1990 sessions. Chakas vocals take a little bit getting used to as it comes across more like Orange 9mm like not Burn. Semantics I suppose, but Chakas vocals and Gavins guitar approach just comes off so damn groovy which isn't bad. So groovy which means so danceable. Damn my 40 something ass. I am of the camp that I hate seeing bands get back together for festival paychecks playing the same damn songs over and over again with nothing new to offer (DK, Youth of Today, Shelter, Judge, Underdog, etc.). Burn proves that not only can it be done, but it can be done so damn well. Young bands, pay attention to this approach. Its one of the reasons you listen to what you listen today!

If I got this LP when I was 16, not only would I listen to it every day, Id be reading the lyric book over and over again as well. So much bang for your buck in this release, however I download code would've been nice to Deathwish. I love love love that after all these years the infamous BURN logo is still used over and over again. Never lose that thing im telling you! Deathwish always seems to get things done right. I may not love everything they do, but you can tell when a label half ass’s stuff, DW does not. Gorgeous package all around.
