Ethel Merman's manager's house
1975.
SLA - LAPD - IHOP.
The Symbionese Liberation Army attempted to assassinate Los Angeles police officers in front of the International House of Pancakes at Sunset and Orange.
Howard Hughes operated out of an art deco shrine on Romaine Street. His Hollywood headquarters was at this location from the early 1930s until the late 1970s. Processing and editing facilities for his films were done on site. It’s remarkable that it remains and even more remarkable that it is unmarked and its history ignored by all those around it.
When Hughes owned the film studio RKO, the building became an occasional filming location. Lawrence Tierney walks out the building and stands near the southwest corner of Orange and Romaine looking North in the film noir picture Bodyguard (1948).

Orlando massacre
To be in the arms of the man that I am starting to love while hundreds of people’s lives were being threatened less than a mile away makes me realize how fragile and short life is.
A friend of mine on Facebook tagged a sad post of her friend that passed away. As I click on his photo I see that he was a photographer. I see that his birthday was a few weeks away and was about to turn 25. I’m 25.
He is now gone and I am alive. This is so heartbreaking that someone could be so cold and hurt people in this tragic way. It’s sad that they are willing to sacrifice others for their own hate.
To be only a few miles away I am in shock. This man traveled far from his home and choose Orlando to do this act of terror. It’s repulsing because if he choose the main area of downtown where thousands of us were walking the streets of Orlando, I may not have been here.
I almost fought a guy last night. Why did I get that mad? There was no reason for me to be mad (he did grab up on me heavy)! I didn’t have to threatened to fight him.
It’s tragic honestly. My friends from around the world are asking me if I am okay and I am glad I am. I am thankful that I am alive and with my family and friends who love me. I am thankful that I can still choose to live my life to the fullest.
My mom doesn’t want me to go out anymore for sometime. I think that is the best decision because man oh man… I’m sorry for ranting but I was so close.
