February wrap up!
So this month I read two books in total (an ebook and manga):
Shadow wings by Raye Wagner and Kelly St Clare (sequel to Blood Oath): 5* - After reviewing the first book, I was worried about how the rest of the series would proceed. But I decided to review the sequel anyway and I'm glad I did! Shadow wings was much better than the first book. I loved the expanded world building and I also appreciated how the authors portrayed the character dealing with the abuse she had gone through in the first book and developing a healthy relationship with another character. Not only did I enjoy the character's sense of humour but I found it funny how clichés associated with dragons were played out, for example, them treasuring shiny objects.
Orange future by Ichigo Takano (a spin-off to the two volume manga, Orange): 5* - This manga series has put me through a rollercoaster of emotions, especially this volume. This volume deals with mental health issues, such as depression and grief, very well. It follows the perspective of Suwa, a character who has such a beautiful soul and deserves to be happy. I am planning on doing a full review on this manga soon. I cannot recommend this series enough! If you are looking for a sweet, emotional manga based on friendship, love, depression and suicide, definitely check out the Orange series!
These are actually the first two books I have finished this year (considering that I didn't finish any books the previous month) so I think I've started 2018 with some positive reads lol.
What books did you finish this month? Read anything worth 5*? Let me know! 😀
FEBRUARY BOOK HAUL (PART 2) 📚
So these are the books I bought! If you didn’t see my last book haul post, my bro had bought me The Cruel Prince, Turtles all the way down and Traitor to the throne!
Other than Orange future (which I have been anticipating desperately and am so glad to have in my hands!), I thought I’d get a mix of YA genres this time round. So I LOVE sherlock holmes and as soon as I heard there was a book written from the point of view of his descendent, Charlotte, I needed to get it! I was intrigued by the premise of Everless, but I mainly bought it because I am a sucker for hardcover bargains lol 😂
I’ve also been planning on picking up more powerful, feminist reads so I bought The nowhere girls. I heard it’s a very empowering book that deals with rape culture (and has some lgbt rep) so I know I gotta prepare myself for this book coz it’s definitely gonna pack a punch 👊
Let me know if any of you guys have read these books and whether you liked them or not! 😀
