Orange Swift / Orange Moth

Triodia sylvina

From the hepialidae family. They have a wingspan of 32-52 mm. They tend to inhabit gardens, roadside verges, downland, moorland and woodland rides. They can be found throughout Europe.

@pattyfradke submitted: Found this dude running around and got a flashback to when I was a kid and picked one up. I tried washing my hands with mint toothpaste and even detergent and the stink still didn't fade away😂 It's a ground beetle but I have no idea what species it is. Can't see it from the photos but man, does it have huge pincers..

Also found a yellow sac spider! Love it, it really looks like a lemon with its slightly green butt.

..And a sleepy orange swift moth, perhaps?

Love the beetle friend! Something in Carabus, maybe Carabus coriaceus? I didn’t realize they were stinky! But then lots of bugs have stinky chemical defenses. Very cute yellow sac spider, and that swift moth!! Lovely. Looks like an orange swift. Thanks for sharing! :)

This fluffy cutie flew into our living room. It’s an Orange Swift. I think it’s a male, but I’m not sure.

My theory about Orange Swift here is that the bird cage, lights, and the show she puts on while swinging symbolize her Red tour and always being on display.

The video never shows all the guards in one shot but if you space them out evenly around the cage you should have 8. Then at the end you see 7 guards standing behind her. This signifies the ones that abandoned her Red Tour and were hired by Katy Perry.

Hence the rat on her plate.
