I've noticed that at some point in TM history the joke seems to have changed from "Nasu doesn't understand western naming schemes so he's just slapping together things that sound cool to him" to "Magi families' naming schemes are bizarre and esoteric but make internal sense to them, which is why Pepperoncino Scandinavia reads to mages as an obvious fake name but Fezgram Vol Senbern or Jingle Abel Meunière are normal things to call your newborn child" and I'm wondering if there's a distinct point in history where it was decided to make that changeover or if it was a gradual side effect of other writers having to yes-and Nasu's old writing decisions over the course of decades.
last i checked the joke was still very much that nasu has no sense of natural sounding western names but TM loves to yes-and their own jokes so I wouldn't be surprised if that's what's going on now and "scandinavia peperocino is obviously a fake name" is a joke about the joke
