*OBJECT OF THE WEEK-74* (25th to 31st October 2021) *NAGADA* (A Single Membrane Musical Drum) Nagada is a single membrane musical drum. It has been collected from the Oraon community of Jharkhand. This traditional instrument is usually accompanied with Sahnai and Dhank (double membrane musical drum) for dance and rituals during the marriage ceremony, Jatra and festivals like Sarhul & Karma. It is also used during 'Bishu Sendra' or annual ceremonial hunting expedition held during the month of 'Phagun'. It is found in different sizes. People use it as per their choice or convenience to carry. This huge sized drum is made of hemispherical shaped hollowed iron body prepared by the local blacksmith caste 'Lohar' and the final process is done by the 'Ghasi' caste with the parchment of leather membrane of buffalo. Skin is tightened with leather strings which are tied in cris-cross pattern around the body. It facilitate in providing louder musical sound.It is played with two sticks to produce the required tone. Among the Oraon Nagada is the most important musical instrument. It is not only made to reveal their love for music and entertainment, but also the way of communication among them by sending messages of joy and emergency. Even today, when they undertake ceremonial hunting expeditions in dense forest in groups, they divide themselves into small sub-groups and each group essentially carries a Nagada for communicating different messages like successful hunting, asking help from other sub-groups or returning to pre decided place etc. Acc. *‘सप्ताह का प्रादर्श-74’* (25 से 31 अक्टूबर 2021 तक) *नगाड़ा* (एक ताल वाद्ययंत्र) नगाड़ा एक ताल वाद्ययंत्र है जिसके एक तरफ चमड़ा मढ़ा होता है। इसे झारखंड के उरांव समुदाय से संकलित किया गया है। यह पारंपरिक वाद्ययंत्र सामान्यतः विवाह समारोह, जात्रा, सरहुल और करमा जैसे त्योहारों के दौरान नृत्य और अनुष्ठानों के अवसर पर शहनाई और ढांक के साथ बजाया जाता है। इसे 'फागुन' के महीने के दौरान आयोजित होने वाले वार्षिक समारोहिक शिकार अभियान 'बिशु सेंदरा' के समय भी उपयोग किया जाता है। यह विभिन्न आकारों में पाया जाता है। लोग इसे अपनी पसंद या सुविधानुसार उपयोग करते हैं। इस वृहद आकार के नगाड़े का मुख्य हिस्सा खोखला और अर्द्धगोलाकार होता है जिसे स्थानीय 'लोहार' जाति द्वारा लोहे की चादर से तैयार किया गया है और 'घासी' जाति द्वारा भैंस का चमड़ा मढ़ा गया है। नगाड़े पर चमड़े को चमड़े की ही डोरियों से इस तरह खींचकर बांधा जाता है कि लोह आवरण पर यह डोरियां गुणाकार जाल सी संरचना बनाती हैं जो तेज संगीतमय ध्वनि उत्पन्न करने में सहायक होती हैं। वांछित स्वर उत्पन्न करने के लिए इसे दो छड़ियों से बजाया जाता है। आदिवासी समाज में नगाड़ा सबसे महत्वपूर्ण वाद्य यंत्र है। यह न केवल संगीत और मनोरंजन के प्रति उनके प्रेम को प्रकट करने के लिए है, बल्कि खुशी और आपातकाल के संदेश भेजने हेतु संचार का एक तरीका भी है। आज भी, जब जनजातियाँ समूहों में घने जंगल में समारोहिक शिकार अभियान चलाती हैं, तो वे खुद को छोटे उप-समूहों में विभाजित कर लेती हैं और प्रत्येक समूह संचार के लिए आवश्यक रूप से एक नगाड़ा ले जाता है जिससे वे शिकार प्राप्त होने या अन्य उप-समूहों से सहायता की आवश्यकता होने या पूर्व निर्धारित स्थान पर लौटने की सूचना के लिए विभिन्न संदेश भेजते हैं। आरोहण क्रमांक -2010.147 स्थानीय नाम -नगाड़ा एक ताल वाद्ययंत्र समुदाय - उरांव स्थानीयता -रांची, झारखंड माप -ऊंचाई - 92 सेमी, गोलाई- 333 सेमी, व्यास -103 सेमी #nagada #musicalinstrument #oraon #ranchi #jharkhand #blacksmith #leatherwork #igrms #museumfromhome #objectoftheweek #ethnograhicobject #museumobject #museumofman #museumofmankind #museumofhumankind #experienceigrms #igrmsstories #staysafe #covid19 https://www.instagram.com/p/CVbrhvFIjfD/?utm_medium=tumblr
