Akaashi smiles, head resting in one hand as he listens to you laugh and explain your day to him over the steaming dinner. Budding candles flicker on the table, credit to Akaashi's sense of romanticism. Their soft light reflect off your features, washing you in a light sunset hue. Akaashi all but melts in this moment, wanting to cherish it and lock it away in his heart; capture your laugh and smile that makes everyone one of his days less-exhausting and worth living.

Then everything fades, and he sits alone. There's rain softly pelting on the window, the only sound he can hear. His food is a cold, unsavoury mess, the dining table utterly bleak as if the life had been sucked from it. The candles are melted puddles of wax, gathering dust. Akaashi looks up, eyes landing on the place you used to sit. Tears sting his eyes as he remembers you; every single little detail. He reaches his hand out on the table, wishing he could feel your warm touch again.
