Whatever preconceived notions that Levi’s neighbors have about him, the truth is that he is just a socially awkward guy whose rescue dog, Shadow, does most of the talking for him. Large, regal and the center of attention, the Great Dane mix allows for Levi to sort of disappear whenever small talk is involved, so that he just has to occasionally answer the usual questions about Shadow. To be honest, Levi’s completely fine with this arrangement.

But for weeks now, Levi has been trying to find ways to start up a conversation with Tall, Blonde and Handsome over at the dog park; but what prevents him, and thus Shadow, from doing so is literally a wire fence between them.

Because the fact is, the man’s dog is a tiny white poodle and only allowed in the small dogs area.

Amidst the irritating yapping of the ankle-biting breeds, Levi hears the blonde man call for his dog.

“Alright, Fenris! Time to go!”

Goddammit, Levi laments, clenching his fist around the wire fence like a prisoner. I’m so attracted.

Somewhere behind him, Shadow starts barking and Levi is forced to tear his eyes away momentarily. It turns out to be a traumatized squirrel and by the time Levi has distracted Shadow, the blonde man is leaving the park, his toy poodle not unlike cotton ball on a string.

Later in their apartment as Levi washes dirt and sand off Shadow’s paws, he asks him, “Will you ever stop being so self-absorbed and help me get laid?”

Shadow just yawns unsympathetically.

Eventually Levi sacrifices his dignity and asks his friend Isabel to let him borrow her Jack Russell Terrier for a few hours. With Apollo in tow, he walks into the small dogs area where he sees the man sitting on a bench alone and watching Fenris play with the others.

Levi unhooks Apollo’s leash where Apollo dashes off into confined freedom, and Levi takes this chance to casually sit next to the blonde man.

“So, which one’s yours?” he asks awkwardly, already knowing the answer.

“The little white poodle over there. His name is Fenris.” Erwin’s smile is gorgeous. “What about you?”

Levi points to where Apollo has chosen to roll around in dirt. “The wild one over there. His name’s Apollo.”

“He looks like a handful,” the man observes, looking amused. “Well now that we know our dogs’ names, I guess we should introduce ourselves. My name is Erwin, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”

“Levi,” he says, taking Erwin’s proffered hand. “Nice to meet you too.” He then admits, “Although, I should probably confess that Apollo isn’t my dog. I’m just pet-sitting for a friend.”

Erwin’s eyes crinkle at the corners. “That’s right, I believe I’ve seen you around the large dogs section.”

Levi preens at the fact that Erwin has noticed him before. But before he can say anything further, a high-pitched yelping interrupts them; and when they turn to look, Apollo has mounted himself on top of Fenris and furiously humping him.

Absolutely mortified, Levi immediately runs over to pick up Apollo.

“Shit, I’m so sorry,” he blurts out as Apollo wriggles unhappily in his hands.

But Erwin is laughing as he tries to calm a shivering Fenris in his arms. “It’s quite alright. Unfortunately, Fenris doesn’t favor the guys unlike his owner.”

In the midst of Levi’s embarrassment, he misses the last part of Erwin’s sentence and is already hurrying away with a hasty goodbye. It’s only until later, as he is picking up Apollo’s mess on the curb strip with a plastic bag, that it dawns on him what Erwin had said.

Realizing that he has missed what was probably his only window of opportunity, Levi mentally berates himself as he goes to drop off Apollo at Isabel’s apartment.

“You okay?” she asks when she sees his glum expression.

“I will be,” Levi replies hollowly. “Thanks for letting me borrow Apollo.”

As an afterthought, he adds, “Also, I think your dog might be gay.”

“Tell me something I don’t know,” Isabel quips.

When Levi walks out of the dog park a few days later, he sees Erwin sitting on one of the benches right outside. He’s distracted, taking photos of Fenris on his phone, so Levi tries to quietly sneak past with as much stealth as someone who is dragging away a 180-pound black dog.

“Hey Levi, how are you?”

Levi curses under his breath and turns around. Next to him, Shadow begins to wildly wag his tail, whipping it painfully against Levi’s ass.

“Ow. Hi. I’m fine.”

Erwin stands up and walks over as Fenris pulls on his leash. There’s a few seconds of awkward silence as all three of them watch Fenris nose curiously at Shadow’s feet.

“I’ve always seen your dog but I never knew he belonged to you,” Erwin eventually says.

“He’s a big dog, he’s hard to miss,” Levi replies dryly. “And yeah, I get that a lot. People think I’m compensating for something.”

Erwin stares at him. “Are you?”

“Uhhh…”

“What are these bruises?” Erwin asks after taking off Levi’s underwear. He then waggles his eyebrows. “You into spanking?”

“What the hell? No, those are from Shadow.”

Erwin makes a face. “Levi, I know you love your dog but that’s just weird.”

Levi throws the condoms at him.

“Shut up, I’ll explain later. But right now I need you to continue what you were doing.”

And on that note, Erwin eagerly proves to Levi that dogs have nothing to do with dick size.

Student & Professor AU

This semester certainly had been a hard one for the studious Petra Ral. She was always bright, not a blemish showing on her GPA, and she had never, ever, gotten any grade below an A minus. But it was quite possible that this was the semester her track record would go out the window. Of course, she wasn't actually in danger of failing, more-so the possibility of receiving a mark in the range of the letter B, though she was only partially to blame for.

Petra had found herself rather distracted during her Monday, Wednesday and Friday, fifty minute, English class. But it wasn't her friends, it wasn't her cellphone, the temptations of clicking the internet browser icon on her laptop, or even that Auruo guy who sat i the row behind her and always tried to get her attention during class. No, it was her instructor; the handsome, well-dressed, tall and wonderfully built Professor Erwin Smith. On the first day of class, all of her friends had been raving about him and his apparent chili pepper on some silly college professor rating website. But when he finally made his appearance to start class, she could see why he deserved such a rating, plus a few more if the site would allow it. Of course it was just a silly infatuation with a good looking professor, right? But as the excitement from her friend's died down after the first few weeks of class, it became obvious to Petra that this wasn't just some tiny crush that would dissolve easily. Petra tried to remain diligent in her class, retaining as much of the lecture as she could. It was a treat to listen to his voice, the acoustics of the hall aiding to the mesmerization she experienced. But at the end of the day, when she returned to her apartment to go over her notes, she found herself struggling to even recall what he had said and decipher their true meaning.

The first exam was approaching, the following Monday to be exact, and she was more than nervous about taking it. But rather than stew and worry, Petra had decided to visit her Professor during his office hours, to hopefully gather a better idea of the upcoming exam (and hoping that a one-on-one meeting with him would help her concentrate more clearly on exactly what he was saying.)

Petra stood outside his office door, her book bag slung across one shoulder as she knocked against the thick, mahogany wood.
