Ogres: Biology
they have two hearts, and incredibly strong digestive system. they can eat most plants and mushrooms that are considered poisonous to the other species. they have enhanced senses and have to learn special meditations from a very young age to manage sensory overloads.
Orges lay eggs with a thick shell, the eggs are kept in a hatchery at the center of the village so they are safe. at one point the eggs where kept in the parents homes but they where attacked so many time that they had to create the hatcheries, which sometimes still get attacked. they will grow in their eggs for ten months before hatching, in the case of multiples the have to be kept under careful watch because it’s rare that the babies can hatch on their own and they can suffocate if they are not helped. all baby Orges are able to walk in a few hours and start talking after a few months. which is why they train thier children so young because at a few months they are virtually toddlers
when Orges are in a lot of pain or afraid they involuntarily make a chirping noise that is as high pitched as a dog whistle. when they are young children they make the noise and every adult that can hear them will go to check on them, because they only make the chirp in intense situations. as they get older the chirp changes and they can learn how to control it, an adults chirp will sound completely different than a child’s
as young children the run around on all fours and they can this well into adulthood and can run faster than any other species when they do. it doesn’t help the fact other species see then as more feral than they already do so they only run on all fours in high risk situations. because as much as they pretend to not care about the other species see them they really do.
Reenactments of Namahage folklore rituals involving orges take place at the Oga Shinzan Folklore Museum beside the Namahage Museum on the Oga Peninsula near Akita, Japan.
