Origami Spider Lily
So, I've decided to make an origami spider lily to attach to hairband, to go with a Japanese Lolita style dress I'm wearing to a con next month (specifically the Axes Femme - White Foxes of Higan set)
Currently testing it out on other colour paper (need to order more red, as I've mainly got rainbow packs of solid colours)
This was my (second) attempt, this time with 6x6inch paper, using the tutorial on YouTube by fuumaru I need to pay attention to how I'm gluing them together and also make the stamen longer and place it in the right spot (oops) and probably stick those in before I start attaching the flowers, but I'm looking for some advice
How do I curl the paper more consistently/in the right shape? I've been using the handle of a wooden spoon and holding it for 5-30 seconds (I'm not the strongest)
I'm currently using PVA and a paintbrush to stick it together (got a huuuge pot that came with a bookbinding kit I bought) is there a more suitable glue? will be made of generic, cheap paper I get online cos the good brand (tuttle) doesn't have the colour I need atm
Any suggestions on how to attach it to a hairband? I'm currently thinking gluing the flower to a matching colour strip of paper, and gluing that strip of paper to the hairband but I'm open to suggestions! (they're quite thin, satin covered bands)
Any other advice? I've made a 1000 origami cranes but haven't played with flowers much!
Thanks! ^.^
