a hand rested on the top of his head , slowly sliding to his horns , nails tapping away at them. she had a fierce look in her eye. ' i do hope you are becoming more comfortable in your new form , adam. i personally like it . . . love it actually. ' with her spare hand , she slowly wrapped it around his waist and pulled him closer to her.

' i think . . . no , i know that you'll come to like this new you. i think i can help promise that . . . ' she cooed out as her hand lowered , scratching the base of his tail with her nails. ' would you like that , sweetheart ? '

what an awful parallel this scene makes for; eden, inverted. the door creaks as lucifer opens it, noting first the uneaten food atop the desk, the covered mirror, then the fallen angel with his wings tucked and a guitar in hand. he had not seen adam's face since the garden, not properly, and in the past week that adam had been here, lucifer had mapped every feature, old and new; his eyes, the horns, and his pretty curls...

the music that had been flowing through the air before interruption had not been the typical heavy rock, and whilst pleasant and melancholic, it only served to ignite the flames of concern lucifer had been nurturing all these days, ❝ serenading us all down here, hm? ❞ a chuckle slips past sharp teeth as his eyes remain locked on adam from where he was leaned against the doorframe, at the threshold between the corridor and the fallen angel. he does not enter, and not for lack of desire. adam had been rather skittish with him since arriving at the palace and lucifer did not wish to aggravate him further.

❝ you are quite good with that instrument. ❞ he says, finally, and the words are like an offering — an olive branch, a truce. please give me a smile, he thinks desperately as he ventures a step closer, arms folding neatly behind his back, ❝ won't you play me something? ❞

      THE    ANGUISH    IT    TAKES    TO    DO    WHAT    WAS    REQUIRED    !

      EVERYTHING    IN    EDEN    IS    SO    VIVID    &    SOFT    ;    a stark difference to heaven    ,    where rigidity is demanded & rules are meant to be followed.    there is no argument in heaven    –    no free will    –    the angelic beings do as they are told & return to work.    & leadership held a heavy crown.    but this    ?    the magnificence of life itself    ?    a true blessing    –    creation was a miracle to those around the garden & true bliss held within the ignorance of man.

      they are like    –    dolls.    perfectly curated to function on their own    –    yet could easily destroy that which is precious to them with the right    (    or rather wrong    )    knowledge.    understanding came with a heavy burden & not even the angels held it.    the father    –    the one that knew & created all.

      wings flap against the gentle breeze    ,    body lowering to stand beside adam as wings tuck away behind her.    they seem to disappear with a little magic    ,    leaving the seraphim to display the same familiar look    –    the father it helps to keep the humans calm.    hands carefully cup together    ,    the bee momentarily imprisoned within her grasp    –    but when hands open again    ,    the creature is calm for adam to watch contently.

      ❛    honest    ,    my dear adam    ,    is truthful    –    you are making a promise to always tell me everything.    ❜    the heavenly being lets the bee resume to bumbling around    ,    fingers instead melodically brushing through dark locks    ;    moving down to cup the man’s jaw as thumb brushes lovingly over his cheek.    ❛    it means you will never betray us.    ❜

      AFFIRMING    WORDS    ARE    LIKE    HARPS    TO    SERAPHIM    EARS    ;    pleased smile flittering to features as they speak within enclosed space.    exactly what she wants to hear.    lucifer’s little damnations have taken too much liberty as of late    ;    thinking that perhaps they can escape eternal damnation    –    & the fellow angel    (    fallen    )    has taken it upon himself to allow such treacherous behavior.    it should be no surprise    ,    considering he was cast out because of how independent he was.    heaven didn’t have room for that.

      distance is closed between the angelic creatures    ,    touch soft as hand caresses the first human’s jaw    ;    a silent form of approval    (    good puppy    )    ❛    you are protecting heaven.    ❜    a benevolent reminder.    ❛    do not fail me.    ❜

how can there be paradise with all this knowledge, when ignorance had been the price for eden? first came the wanting, then came the wanting more — and the angel met man in the middle. the first sin has always been the craving, the hunger, the desire to have that which you cannot. and even now, a long way away from eden, lucifer stands the epitome of that sin, all sharp grin and coy gaze as he steps toward the first man, whom once he'd been so fond of.

adam said, i cannot keep you and i cannot let you go.

❝ yes, yes, i see you've rebranded. the guitar is a bit tacky, but if bold & loud is what you're going for... ❞ lucifer shrugs, twirling his cane about before he leans against it, gloved hands crossed atop the brass topper. his gaze languidly drags over the remodelled instrument, unimpressed, before lifting back toward @origidick. ❝ for all that effort, you're still here, speaking with the adversary. i'd be careful, ❞ when his head cants, what sits betwixt a maw of teeth is vexation intertwined mischief, fervent in its teasing, ❝ temptation, my dear angel, has always been as easy as finding the right apple. ❞
