Description
Duck had returned from a busted shoulder, Macmillan decides it's a great opportunity to throw Duck head first into a new operation. As tension heats up with another soldier Price keeps Duck on a shorter than normal leash.
"You" John points to Duck "Need to be on my side" then he points to Derek "You need to calm the fuck down" and finally he points to Lenny "For once your not in trouble" he now was addressing the whole room "We have two soldiers assisting us and I want this team friendly that means, no hazing, no bulling, no nothing. We are going to bring Boyd home, I'm running this show you answer to me first and foremost" his eyes bounced from person to person, he was judging reactions. Duck was content, done arguing for now. Lenny was calm, still leaning against the table eating. Derek was tense, but accepting. The two soldiers assisting them were just unphased, they heard about how dysfunctional Bravo team has gotten since Ten Twelve was taken. "Wheels up in two hours, Duck with me" John walks into his cage(where all his gear is stored, everyone has one) "You heard him, two hours no more no less" Duck headed to the cage
"I need you with me" John reiterated as Duck was looking over the map "I'm with you, jingle all the way but I need you to understand that we might not be able to save him...time has been counting down for three days and with no eyes on the building he may already be-" "I thought you said you were with me" "John, I'm with you I always am but I'm saying face reality. Yes, Ten has been our leader and mentor for so long and I don't want to lose him either but truth is truth" Since John now fully understood where Duck stood there was a different elephant in the room "Derek has changed" Duck decided to bring it up, earning a nod from John "He's not Buddha anymore, he's not calm and peaceful...he's worse than you" "What happened after I busted my shoulder?" Duck sighs sadly...he always felt like a failure to the team, especially after Alex's death "He was with Lenny making sure no one was coming behind me and Gaz, then next thing I know Lenny was calling for a way out..." John thinks back trying to remember Lenny's exact words
"I said, Derek fractured his spine...it's why he's an inch or three shorter, we're doing what John told us to and then we were starting to get overwhelmed with Barkov soldiers, then Derek went out a window for a quick escape and he hit his back on something" Lenny explains still munching on his crisps, this man could eat a wearhouse of crisps "So it wasn't a brain injury...why did his personality change?" Duck is stupid smart, he can get you in and out of a fire fight but he couldn't tell you what the bones of the body are "Emotional trauma, he couldn't really walk for a month and a half. Winnie, Dj and Tara were...are scared of him" Lenny could write a whole book on this team, silent but annoying. "Thanks for the lowdown" Duck mumbles leaving the cage. John looks to Lenny "I'm with you all the way John" "That is oddly comforting right now" "Disgusting" "I know"
"So, what's the plan?" Lenny reads over the map "Go in at night, take out the guards and save Boyd" John cleans his pistol "I mean with Derek, he's acting how Duck acts in the field but all the time" Lenny mumbles throwing his crisps bag away "We'll talk more about it after the mission" John sighs "Alright boss man, wheels up in an hour thirty" Lenny left the cage.
