having friends in the system with actual serious roles (or literally any role other than ‘fuck arounder’) is so fucked up they’re literally just normal guys you’re hanging out until something happens and suddenly it’s like a fucking sleeper agent activation. like holy shit who’s this guy handling a situation i thought he only knew how to tell stupid jokes and hang out

any other alters (especially introjects) feel like. ghosts of the past or something?

like, personally, i'm an introject of an ex-friend's fictive. we were never into the original fictional source, but here i am with some of the strongest pseudomemories in the system. point is, i feel like i'm some sort of our relationships with them and their interests

i suppose a better example might be our boy Vincent. They used to be our host around the time we discovered our systemhood, and maybe a year before then. They haven't been a host for like 3 years. Still, they come around every once in a while. usually just to say the classic "ohh it's so weird that i've been gone for so long, so much has changed." and like. yeah. the guy cares about people we don't even think about anymore. hell, his perception of our self is outdated compared to how most of us see it. just overall, he's not a part of who we are anymore. I mean absolutely no hate to the guy, but the point is we've outgrown the self he used to be a part of, and he's still here as a part of something that has no surviving other parts.

there's other folks like that around. most older than me, many of them past hosts. maybe 'ghosts of the past' is an overdramatic way of putting it, but it's how it feels to me.
