I've been reading Dracula, so here's a song about someone who lives in an old house in Whitby. It has bats in the attic. Probably no big deal... lyrics below.
The building is Victorian It looks across the sea It needs a bit of maintenance But still it's home to me There's a garden that I nurture The paint is fresh and bright And a mirror in the bathroom Reflects the morning light When I stumble from the bedroom Brush my teeth and comb my hair And I look into the mirror At the sleepy human there But the garlic in the garden Isn't growing well this year And I try to keep it clean but Still there's creatures everywhere The spiders I can handle For they keep the flies at bay But the bats up in the attic Well I'll deal with them some day I always say tomorrow is The day I'll put it right When I look into the mirror And I bid myself good night And when the night is dark and wind is Whistling through the stone I cannot help believing That I am not alone Is there something in the shadows Is it all just in the mind? But I look into the mirror And see nothing is behind Last night I couldn't rest My neck felt weak and stiff Wide awake for hours I stared out across the cliffs
And this morning in the bathroom As I shave and comb my hair I look into the mirror And there's no-one standing there What is it that I thirst for? Is it just the sleep I lack? But I look into the mirror And there's no-one looking back
