I actually watched the 2008 remake of My Bloody Valentine 3D, last month. It actually came with 4 pairs of those old school red/green paper 3D glasses (which didn't work nearly as well as the ones in use nowadays but you cant cram those into a DVD case). The downside is that not only do those paper glasses bite into your nose, they never let you see the movie with the colors its actually supposed to be in.
Honestly, the movie had all the gore I wanted, but the narrative was like Scream, in a social deduction "who's the killer???" style except...Not as good. Plus the last 30 minutes of the movie may or may not be essentially in black and white because by that time, if there was any actual color at all, I couldn't tell. Plus the ending kind of sucked.
Having seen a good amount of horror movies in my time, I'd give My Bloody Valentine 3D a 6.5/10. Worth one watch, at least, but not good enough to make into a yearly tradition.
I almost got to see the remake in theaters but my date at the time wussed out and we saw something else.
I much prefer the original My Bloody Valentine anyway. Kept me on my toes. Something about practical effects in horror films just looks better.
