The Outsiders don’t understand.
They didn’t see the way the Veiled one saved us. In times of famine, she sent food and water. In times of scarcity, she provided. She has healed our sick, restored our town. She and the twelve have protected us. How can you not honor her for it, trust the twelve’s judgement?
The Cultists don’t understand.
They can’t see beyond their customs. Their holidays dominate this town, their practices ingrained into our very core. But it doesn’t mean they’re right, it doesn’t mean their god is real. The world ended, it’s just us out here. Saving ourselves. Instead of praying to some veiled one, scarring our left hands and blindly trusting twelve random folks, we should be out there preparing for the reality that food is only getting scarcer.
I don’t understand.
This town is full of customs and tensions that seem to span generations. I can’t say for certain what’s what, and I'm not entirely sure who the veiled one is. She seems important to them, but I’m not convinced she- or the twelve’s mystic powers- are real. But it’s a functioning town, and the rest of the area has long since been looted or crumbled. I guess I can stick around and find out.
Do you understand?
