I get why ppl make kankri the father/older brother in AUs but sometimes I envision a much older karkat dumping a box of those little colorful shapes they make for kids and going "now show me how to organize these" and then Kankri gets so locked in on the task that Karkat can successfully go do something other than childcare

Karkat and Nepeta would remake everyone they know in Tomodachi life and to Karkat's pearl clutching shock she starts shipping them. And to his great horror he gets invested

Aradia: takes student loans to get an archeology degree, pivots to mortuary school, is in debt, works as a waitress bc the funeral home wasn't hiring, does taxidermy art in her freetime and sells it at county fairs.

Tavros: sees "dog groomer" on a job board that is NOT indeed, gets the job, loves it, eventually gets a higher paying job related to pets by leveraging his experience. Never forgets to love the little things. Meets a cute person, falls in love, they have kids and dogs. Their home is small but it's beautiful and warm inside. He is the happiest person in paradox space.

Sollux: full ride scholarship at fuckinbig university due to his 200 IQ and is saddled with some computer science job that entails an unfortunate amount of responsibility but a whole lotta money, no longer has a bunch of tech in his personal space just a printer and a shotgun next to it. Could afford to live on his own but refuses to, so he's roommates with Aradia.

Karkat: joined the military, hated it, left after basic training, now has an ok but boring job in HR where he has to send emails all day, yearns for a management position, drives a subaru.

Nepeta: had to get a job at the nearest fast food place as a teenager, luckily it was in a trashy location with low standards because I'm sure her customer service sucks, but eventually she got some job where she climbs rooves or cuts the tops off of trees or some shit that's blue collar and outdoorsy. She writes still, in her freetime, and sometimes ponders going back to school and then doing journalism. Mainly, she just writes her gossip blog and her fanfiction.

Kanaya: almost becomes a nurse, but then found out she'd be inside a scary and ugly hospital all day, and so pursues her real but "impractical" dream, fashion school. She now works in a design team but yearns to be a "creative director", whatever that is.

Terezi: works her ass off to become a lawyer. She was one of the smartest in her hometown, but now she's in with the other big fish. She pretends not to be afraid of the competition, but she is. Also in debt to school. Making her way in the big city as a country girl, she almost forgets the simple pleasures of nature that she enjoyed throughout her childhood. Kickboxes in her very small amount of freetime to blow off steam.

Vriska: becomes a nurse (derogatory), gets fired after a few years for not hiding her many mistakes very well, goes back to school and becomes a gym teacher. She's the most hated in the school, but by God she gets the football team into shape.

Equius: nepo baby'd his way into a pretty good and respectable job, not sure which one, but his real passion is being a fitness influencer. He and Nepeta are still close, which surprises new people due to their opposite lifestyles.

Gamzee: high school drop out, rich parents pay for his apartment and otherwise forget about him, makes sculpture art pieces out of random garbage, also busks, not for money just to do something. Might get his GED one day.

Eridan: their father, the inventor of orphan crushing machines, uses his blood money to fund their artistic and acting career. They make derivative paintings that are ok to people that don't do art, but piss off real artists. They grew up acting and are actually pretty decent at it, and they're in a few good flicks, but they have been softly cancelled a few times. Kanaya hates their work but wants to be their stylist bad, but Eridan has an unfortunate love of Gucci that is difficult to match with her style.

Feferi: has studied and practiced dance, swimming, and horseback riding since she was 3 minutes old, but had to stop due to a leg injury when she was 13. She is still better at dancing and swimming than most people with shitty and normal childhoods. She lives in a mansion on the coast and holds events/parties for charities and fundraising, giving her a reputation as a philanthropist. She doesn't have much of a "job" job so much as owning a lot of shit that she inherited. She is always front row at the big pop concerts, Sabrina Beyonce Taylor etc. Has never known the pain of applying to a 15/hr job on indeed that never responds. Kanaya always sends her her designs in hopes that she'll get a shot at being her stylist (nepo friendship! We all need it.)
