° H E Y B L O S S O M Blossom, a name my mum calls me but also one of my favourite flowers. I found some today and had to pull over for a photo (it was meant to be - there was a parking spot directly opposite) on the busy Ormeau Road. No pink blossom photos for me yet, but the white are just as stunning. I actually did a little research and never realised there were so many types of cherry blossom. This tree is either: ‘Shogetsu’ a spreading cherry tree, which is wider than it is tall, flowers later than most. Its light-pink buds, which open to white flowers, are sometimes likened to little ballerinas. Or ‘Umineko’ - a stunning white cross between P. speciosa and P. incisa, was bred by the British cherry expert Collingwood Ingram in 1928. The April flowers are pure-white on an upright tree, and its name translates as seagull. #cherryblossom#belfast#ormeauroad#flowers#umineko#shogetsu#spring#april#nature#niblogger#instadaily#instani#lifestyleblogger#mrsdslifestyle (at Ormeau Park)
