by Osamu Tezuka
A drawing after work today. I don't have the energy to finish it up, so I'll leave it as it is for now.
My headcanon is that Black Jack likes ska because of his personal scheme, and because of the meaning behind two-tone. Tezuka was always really progressive about stuff like race :3 The patch on Black Jack's face actually came from a little black boy, who was one of Black Jack's only buddies as a kid. He doesn't change it because it means a lot to him that his friend would help him in his time of need. It always makes me think of a certain friend of mine who'd be there for me in the same ways.
I'm kind of not sure with this drawing. I'm afraid my own likes informed it too much, since I gave him a much longer face and bigger nose than his official version. He's still got the same attitude, though.
ROCK. HOLMES. It is motherfucking Tezuka time, and I'm posting about this fucker right here.
You see this fucker? You see him? Good. I wanted you to.
Rock here started out as a "boy detective" type, literally a young Sherlock Holmes. His name is actually a corruption of "Sherlock", taking the last part and... Well, mispronouncing it. Who cares, Rock is a cool name (Mega Man would agree.) anyway. However, his name wasn't the only thing that ended up corrupted. As this character evolved, he ended up becoming one of the best and most interesting villains in the Tezuka universe, having an ambivalent-at-best sense of morals. He's often a product of his surroundings when he appears, usually having it pretty rough and coming out selfish and cruel in the end. In fact, even at his best, he's a pretty self-centered bastard, to the point that, in one series, he was literally in love with himself. Yeah.
Other times, Rock can be a very charming and suave individual, usually incredibly driven. Either way, he's always mysterious and keeps his intentions to himself, wearing dark sunglasses to hide his eyes. He's almost never without those sunglasses, a tradition that would be carried on with cool guys like Char and Blues. Like those characters, he's never completely a good guy or a bad guy.
What I'm saying is that I like Tezuka and Rock is cool.
