thrilled for @chuuminn’s NYE party!!! Dazai and I will be attending as il lupo mannaro and the kitsune :)

details below —

at first glance, Italian and Japanese myth and folklore are vastly different — and understandably so. as folks of two widely geographically-separated cultures, we pulled back a bit to consider the threads that tend to run universally throughout cultural myth and folklore and ended up finding an interesting commonality in the shapeshifting beings of the Italian lupo mannaro and the Japanese kitsune!

the kitsune is a Japanese fox spirit with the ability to take a human form, sometimes regarded as a trickster, sometimes more as a guardian; il lupo mannaro is what most English speakers refer to as a werewolf, a human with the ability to turn into a wolf. not only do we embody our own ethnicities, but both supernatural beings often serve as metaphors or symbols for duality and human moral ambiguity — fitting for two mafiosi-turned-detectives, wouldn’t you agree?

and yes, we both treated ourselves to claw acrylics for the occasion.

☀️: If they wake you up, how do they do it? With a kiss? or Pushing you off the bed?

there is an infinite number of ways DAZAI and i might wake each other up but some are as follows. i might wake him up by pushing him off me (or tugging him closer to me) or snoring in his face or shifting too violently or searching frantically for my vape or accidentally laying on his hair or shaking him because i want to go get mcdonalds. he might wake me up by kicking me (accidentally or purposely is up for debate) or putting his cold ass hands up my shirt or smooching me awake or also frantically searching for my vape or maybe something inappropraite (though we're both guilty of this)

👔: When do they change out of their pajamas? Right when they wake up or later?

LAST MINUTE. both of us. i think we both sleep in just boxers and t shirt. but DAZAI is a freak and wears socks to bed where i do NOT. if he had a really good day the day before sometimes i can convince him to sleep without most of his bandages...... or a shirt....... <3 but yea we don't get dressed until right before we head out the door i think
