Dolly Parton during her pre-recorded virtual acceptance speech while being honored with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for her work to promote childhood literacy via The Dollywood Foundation and the Imagination Library, her large financial contribution which led to the development of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, and her enduring advocacy for, and devotion to, the LGBTQ+ community. Dolly accepted her award from her home in Tennessee due to her recent health issues (reportedly kidney stones) which she's currently receiving treatment for. The 16th Annual Governors Awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Ovation Hollywood on Sunday, November 16th, 2025, and Parton's award segment was introduced by her friend and 9 to 5 co-star Lily Tomlin who beautifully and succinctly stated that Dolly "is one of the few people who remains in this world who ~everyone~ respects."
