2014 OSCARS NAIL TREND REPORT

We were so happy to see gorgeous manicures in between the parade of amazing designer gowns. The gowns blew us away and seeing perfectly paired nails with so many of them was a relief. Many of the celebrities chose to play it safe with nude nails such as Naomi Watts, and Cate Blanchett. Those that rocked colored nails did it flawlessly, and it really pulled their looks together.

Emma Watson also opted for a dark polish with a deep blood red manicure. Her sparkly Gunmetal Vera Wang gown looked so glam and edgy that it needed to be paired with an edgy polish. She continued the look with multiple stacked rings on her fingers and mirrored her nail polish color with bold deep red lips. Perhaps our favorite manicure choice was Julia Roberts. It was unexpected, and a risk, but it looked fantastic. Her black lace Givenchy gown had a peplum detail and was stunning. She took a risk by pairing this gown with a light grey polish. It was a risk that paid off! Check back this week to hear how you can get this polish with GelEnvy by mixing colors!

One star decided on a monochromatic look choosing to pair her eggplant colored Jason Wu gown that was designed specially for her and her baby bump. Kerry Washington's nails were a darker shade of that same eggplant color. Doing a monochromatic pairing is a great choice and will work with most looks. 

The Oscars would not be complete without the woman who stole the red carpet, Lupita Nyong'o. Her stunning pleated Prada gown was inspired and she wore it so effortlessly. As many people will agree she has been knocking it out of the park this awards season with the gowns she has been wearing and tonight was no different. On the red carpet Lupita commented that she chose this gown because it reminded her of her home in Nairobi. This comment started a hash tag frenzy with the #nairobiblue tag taking off like mad all over the internet. We couldn't help but get into the excitement and will be adding a special edition blog this week showing you how to blend this amazing color from our GelEnvy collection. With her Prada gown Lupita showed off white nails that were shaped into soft points.  Her winning fashion moment was made infinitely better when she won for best actress and took her gown to the stage. The grace with which she accepted her award was so fun to watch. Congrats to her!

This years Oscars red carpet was full of so many amazing fashion moments and glam nails. We loved every moment of it and will be enjoying the do and don't fashion moments that will be talked about this week.
