Osler’s Web is an extraordinarily long and detailed history of the emergence of chronic fatigue syndrome in the U.S. between 1984 and 1994. I’ve met a lot of people w/ me/cfs who’ve wanted to read it but didn’t have the time/energy/spoons for a 700 page book, so I went ahead and wrote a summary of it. It’s 46 pages long, which I wouldn’t call short, but it’s a bit more accessible than the original I hope.
