By 👉🏻 @thaer.perio 💫Osseous Surgery 🔪🦴 📍Resective. 📍Additive. 📍combination. In this case i did a combination of resection and addition of bone 🦴 Lets define some terms 🙌 Osseous resective surgery is the combined use of both osteoplasty and ostectomy to re-establish the marginal bone morphology around the teeth to resemble ‘‘normal bone with a positive architecture’’, This normal bone morphology allows flap replacement on teeth, also allows the gingival tissues to follow a more physiological contour 🙌 Osteoplasty: reshaping of the alveolar process to achieve a more physiological form without removal of SUPPORTING bone. Ostectomy: the excision of bone or portion of a bone, includes the removal of SUPPORTING bone. usually resection is performed when we have shallow periodontal defect and regeneration might not be predictable. Adding bone and aiming for regeneration will be done in deeper periodontal defects >3mm according to Kao et al in a systematic review. Materials and instruments: 📌 Round diamond bur. 📌Ochsenbein chisel. 📌 back action chisel. 📌 bone scraper to collect the autogenous from the exostosis. 📌 resorbable (biogide) membrane . 📌 4-0 PTFE sutures. Is this the least favorable procedure by periodontists? What do you guys feel?
