Oh look, it’s a new osu!next post.

Ah, it's already 2017. Time.. time flies.

I haven't posted anything since last year, isn't it. I've been away from work and flew back home for a month (sidenote: I'm also an event organiser back at home, so, it's not really a holiday >_<). But no worries, now I'm back in the studio again, churning out more stuffs for you peeps.

I saw some osu!lazer teasers from the devs, and they're lookin' pretty mad. Like really mad. In a good way kind of mad. And I am mad excited about it.

Anyway, I hope that this post will put some of the recurring questions to rest. Again, just keep in mind that all of these are far, FAR from final.

Hi, it’s been 6 months since my last post.

Rest assured that I’m still here; spending most of my time doing UX fixes on the website.So, here’s the case: As we progress forward with the new design, more and more problems started to pop here and there; it could be from new function specs or user feedback.

Yes, we hear you.

There were things which were not envisioned during the design process and adding them later proved to be problematic. As I try to iron things out, the site turned into a full blown design clusterfluck with things all over the place, and I can only blame it on myself.

I, would want to stab my eyes.

So, I started everything from the scratch again, with every single new function and feedback in mind. A massive revamp felt unavoidable as it will solve a lot of UX problems and fixing the current design would just gives me more problems.

The ultimate goal is still to provide all the information in a neat order without sacrificing user experience. I’ve been busy rethinking the website, and now I think I’m confident enough to tease what I’ve worked on so far. Do keep in mind that this is still very early at design stage, and nothing is final.

Behind me right now, is a team of devs who are about to murder me because as they thought things are nearing completion, they might need to do a lot more things now. Please tell my cat I love her, I will miss her a lot, I don’t wanna diegstd l;sdhn,nmb$%*,./’/x’..  n v     H   A      LP

It's been a long time since I posted the last update on osu!next.

Lazer development has been doing very well. Now that they have somewhat nailed down the new framework for the game, they have been busy implementing the new design piece by piece. It's a very exciting moment for me, seeing all the design coming together and functionally feels better than what I've originally anticipated.

What have I been doing all this time? Sleeping at my desk of course. Nah just kidding. I still need to work to earn my monthly supply cans of tuna to survive.

I've designed (re-designed) a lot more stuff; streamlining and standardising all the designs for everything: web, client, products and tournament stuff. Hope you guys liked the new osu! world cup 2017 series designs (yes, osu!world cup 2016 is part of the 2017 series).

At the same time, helping out the dev team with Lazer designs; explaining on how the design works and how every design element in the game flies. As I mentioned before, everything that you’ve seen here are all design drafts, and all the final stuff are done during the implementation stage.

ppy has been going crazy on going all out on making the new build awesome as fuck; that he can't stop talking about on how awesome it is.

I'm trying to drastically reduce teasers count, because there's a lot of things that I would like to keep it as a surprise. People tend to get bored of new stuff easily; I'm pretty sure you'd understand lol.

...right?

This week's teaser is not so much of a teaser.

Spent most of my time updating and fixing design for the past few weeks, and thought that was nothing interesting that I could show.

I'm happy that I managed to fix something that has been haunting me for a very long time; something that I've been putting on hold for more than a year because I had no idea on how to fix it. Not only that, at the same time I'm slowly unifying the design standard between the web and client. There will be slight design changes to the stuff that has been implemented in the public beta site.

..yes, dead sure the devs wants me dead now for keep on changing the designs.

Also, it's safe to say that I won't be able to post every Friday since I'll be focusing on fixing designs, instead of completely redesigning new stuff. It means I'll spending time preparing my stuff for the devs to work on too... and making a lot of changes on the fly with them.

osu!next fridays! It’s not so much of a preview since the full view has been leaked somewhere else.

I’m sorry for the wowless post lately. I’m running low on stuff that I’m allowed to show, but that’s fine since the devs are implementing them stuffs. Instead of blurry previews, you’ll be able to seem them live soon.

Friday, today’s a holiday here in Japan, but no worries, I’m still in the office to deliver osu!next updates.

It’s been another a slow week for me, nothing exciting. Designed some design patches to improve usability and readability for certain areas based on the feedback we received.
