and while she wasn’t jealous it did kind of kill her that red and ashes shared this softness that she wasn’t ever let in on because SHE was the armor, SHE had to be hard enough for the three of them, red and ashes were fragile and she wanted to protect them without them!!! the thought of showing weakness literally murdered her and that’s why she got so dependant on using drugs to cope (and a part of her liked what that did with her image: SHE WAS IMMUNE she could be this perfect hardened killjoy and still leech from the city and be fine) and she just. she loved her boys too much she loved them like a mother would and tried to protect them from any and all hardships and tried to just put it all on herself instead and aagh

He knows that guy, Matt, said he lived here. That guy, Matt, also said they were in a relationship. The two of them and this girl, Riley. Since high school. They’re almost done college. Apparently.

Riley is majoring in computer science. Matt is in Fine Arts. David is supposedly in criminology. He doesn’t remember this. Camp Paradise, you remember that? He remembers summer camp, sure. He even remembers Matt: they were best friends when they were kids. Matt used to call him peon. But so much is gone. So many holes. Who is he, David Siegel? Who is Matt Keller?

“Hi,” he says nervously, offering a tentative smile. “Um. Matt said, uh. You’d like to see me. You had a project so you couldn’t come to Boston. So. I came here. Um. Hi.” There’s a long pause as he looks at her, trying to remember. “I’m David.”
