Jeongguk had been acting stranger toward you than usual, and you weren’t too sure what you had done to warrant the behavior but you also weren’t about to question it. While he still didn’t speak to you, or even acknowledge when you tried to talk with him, he came and sat with you and the few boys that could still come, have breakfast and lunch with you, and always made sure to be seated directly across from you. He followed you all on your afternoon walks to the beach, playing around with the others. But you always felt his eyes on you, and you;d be a liar if you said it didn’t make you extremely uncomfortable. The stare didn’t feel friendly, but it also didn’t feel malicious. Whatever it was, you didn’t like it. So you just pretended it wasn’t happening.
And god was it difficult.
He was intimidating.
“I haven’t seen Taehyung, is he okay?” You wondered, looking over to Jimin who walked close beside you. You could tell he was restraining himself from trying to latch onto you, he wasn’t very good at hiding… well anything.
You hadn’t seen Taehyung since you had all arrived, and you honestly missed him. Just a little. Nobody had mentioned the monkey hybrid, which you found odd. At first you had thought maybe he was just tired and adjusting to the changes, but when nobody had mentioned him by the third day you were suspicious.
“He’s fine,” Hoseok shrugged, gently patting your hair. “He’s joined some hotel activities.”
You frowned, humming as you tried to think of any activities on the bulletin board in the hotel, you hadn’t seen anything listed, but maybe there were different activities set up for the hybrids. Separating the activities would be strange though, wouldn’t people want to spend time with their hybrids? Do they not consider them family, or at least friends? You couldn’t say you considered any of the boy's family, nor friends, maybe acquaintances? But then again they weren’t yours.
“Did you guys sign up for any?” You asked, glancing between the three. They all shook their heads, ‘no’. You puffed up your cheeks, slowly letting the air out. This place was strange. The whole situation was strange. Since arriving the boys had slowly dropped one by one, you see less and less of them. Namjoon had explained to you the day after arriving what the hotel really was, confirming most of your research.
A hotel for hybrids to stay and pass through their mating cycles, and if all owners agreed, they could sometimes find hybrids of the same breed and ‘pair’ them up. You had snorted at the thought, your first thought being it was like a matchmaking hotel, before your slow brain caught up and realized exactly what was meant by ‘pair up.’ You had been horrified that the comments on the forum were true. But you had trust in your brother to not being that stupid.
Your brother… You hadn’t heard from him since the ‘trip’ was announced. You had been calling, texting and even emailing him, but no responses ever came back. Frustrated wasn’t even close to how you were beginning to feel about this whole situation. Even his fiancé had stopped responding to you, and while you knew your brother wouldn’t abandon the pack, you weren’t too happy being left in the dark. You had so many questions and you just wanted answers.
Being in a hotel all by yourself over the evening was lonely, the boys had a curfew, their hotel's doors were locked by 5:30pm, for ‘safety.’ Your nights you did spend on the phone, facetiming with Dohan, the guy you had met in the grocery store. The two of you had grown incredibly close, talking constantly. He was incredibly sweet, and funny and while he didn’t know the entire situation you were in (e.g. babysitting seven hybrids) he was incredibly comforting and tried his best to help you. You had admittedly developed a crush on the man, and you knew he felt the same towards you, but you had both agreed to not act on anything until he could take you on a real date. You sometimes wished some of the boys had phones so you could at least text them over the night, especially Taehyung. You were honestly beginning to really worry about him.
It was 4pm now, and soon the boys would have to retreat back to the hotel and you would be alone once again. While you weren’t the most social person, you still enjoyed a little company– what human didn’t? You couldn’t socialise with the other people in the hotel, Covid was still a thing and the hotel had strict rules in place, and you wondered if it were the same for the boys. Were they separated once they got back to the hotel? Did they get to have dinner together? Did they feel as isolated as you did?
Hoseok and Jimin had run ahead to the water, the two wanting to walk along the water before heading back. This left you alone with Jeongguk. You could feel your heartbeat in your throat, drumming so hard you were sure he could see it with the way he was staring. The snake hybrid moved closer, the skin of his arm brushing against you making you shiver. Did he always feel this cold?
Jeongguk felt like an idiot– no, not an idiot. A pervert. He was trying his best to act neutral around you, he really was. But his body seemed to have a mind of its own. He liked to try and blame it on the raging hormones in the hotel, they were triggering him, he was sure when he finally got home he wouldn’t feel.. Whatever it was that he was experiencing right now. He had been happy when the others ran off, giddy even. He had you to himself, something that had never happened before… something he hadn’t wanted before. He had moved closer to you, hoping you wouldn’t notice but the second your soft, warm skin brushed him, he knew he was down bad. Thoughts of you, naked, filled his brain again. Did all of your skin feel this smooth? This warm?
You had shivered when he touched you, was it out of fear? The thought of you fearing him didn’t upset him, infact, it excited him. He couldn’t help but grin at the thought of you under him, begging him to leave you alone. Jeongguk was sure you looked stunning with teary eyes.
The snake hybrid looked around, his packmates were already by the water, out of eyesight for you. They weren’t paying attention to him, or you.
Jeongguk wrapped his fingers around your wrist, forcing you to stop. He could feel your pulse under his finger tips, beating erratically. Your body temperature raised, and your body stiffening under his touch. Your reaction was exciting. You were scared.
“--Jeongguk?”
The hybrid shook his head, snapping back out his thoughts. His eyes still glued to where he held onto you so tightly. He hadn’t heard a word you said before his name. He wanted you to say it again.
“Are you scared?” He asked softly, still not looking at you properly.
Scared wasn’t the right word. You were petrified. You wanted nothing more than to rip yourself out of his hold and book it back to your room, but he was holding so tightly, like he knew exactly what you wanted to do.
“I knew it.” He grinned, finally looking you in the eyes and god, you wished he hadn’t. His dark eyes stared into yours, an excited glint in them.
“Jeongguk, please let me go.” You asked as calmly as you could muster, but even you could hear the shake to your voice.
“Say it again.”
You frowned, gently tugging your wrist only to wince when his grip tightened.
“Let me go.” You repeated, a little firmer this time.
“Not that. Say my name.” He pouted. You almost would have fallen for how cute he looked if it weren’t for the way his fangs were out, pushing into his bottom lip. Or maybe the way he watching you was like you were a mouse, and he was ready to snap any second and swallow you whole.
You frowned, looking down at your wrist again. It was bright red, and aching. You’ll definitely be bruised by morning.
“Jeongguk, I’m asking you nicely, let me go.”
He laughed, throwing his head back as his body shook. You were shocked, you don’t think you had ever seen him laugh, at least not at you. He calmed quickly, shaking his head in silent disbelief before he tugged you forward, wrapping his free arm around your hips.
“What are you gonna do, Y/N?” He cooed, eyes narrowing in on yours. The look on his face was the opposite of the tone of voice he had just used. He leaned in closer, barely an inch away. “Tell me, what will you do?”
You felt your cheeks heat up in embarrassment, but you weren’t sure why. Was it because your attempt at a threat had clearly failed? Or was it the way he was holding you right now? Or how close his face was to yours.
“I’m waiting Y/N.” He sang, his grin showing off the needle fangs hanging over his canines.
You felt sick.
“I’ll–”
“Don’t say scream, that's boring.” He cut you off, sighing dramatically. “Besides,” He added, letting go of your wrist to wrap his fingers in your hair. His grip on your hips tightened as he yanked your head backward. “I could rip your throat out before you even try.”
Oh god, you really were going to vomit.
“Where did the confidence go?” The hybrid whined, gently shaking your head side to side. “Don’t be boring now, come on. Try again.”
You could feel tears threatening to cloud your vision and if you could, you would’ve punched yourself for looking so goddamn weak. But what else could you do? He was right. He could rip out your throat in the blink of an eye, hell, he didn't even need to do that. All he had to do was bite you and you would be done for. The thought had your stomach tightening in an attempt to remove its contents but you pushed it back down, you weren’t going to cry, and you certainly weren’t about to vomit all over this asshole– even if he deserves it.
“This isn’t funny, please just leave me alone.” You mumbled. You wish you had ran ahead with the other two, why haven’t they realized you hadn’t shown up yet?
Jeongguk’s hand tightened in your hair making you wince, if he moved again he was going to take a chunk out. The stinging on your scalp made your eyes water, which only seemed to please the boy towering over you.
He was right, he thought proudly, you looked so pretty when you cried.
“Y/N was asking about Tae again,” Jimin sighed as he dropped into his seat. Across from him sat Seokjin who nodded at the younger words but didn’t say anything, instead he looked to his left and raised a brow to Namjoon.
The boys had all agreed to not mention what exactly Taehyung was up to. They weren’t sure how you would react, so they thought the best thing to do was keep it to themselves. Jay had contacted the hotel and requested that any matches found be matched to ‘his’ boys, if possible. So far they only had a match for Taehyung much to everyone's surprise, they expected Namjoon again, or even Jimin. They felt bad for him, it was his second time matching and the first time had left the poor man depressed afterwards. During ruts, when matched up their more animalistic side tends to kick in, the urge to mate was nearly unbearable for most hybrids, even with training which is why many of the first few generations were castrated, which often left them undesirable to many potential adopters. Coping with these urges were much harder, and less experienced a hybrid was, which is why Jay had sent them to the hotel this year, not wanting to risk anything happening to his sister– which the boys all understood, but the older men couldn’t help but feel insulted that had to go too. Namjoon had been sure he, Jin, Hoseok and Yoongi would have been fine with having you around during this time, especially since most of them it wasn’t even their time, but Jay clearly didn’t want to risk anything.
Namjoon was now thankful for Jay’s decision, at least he thinks. While he was sure he could have handled being at home with you, being here at the hotel with all the hormones had definitely made it very hard for him to be near you, so by the second day he had started to stay back at the hotel and halt any interaction with you until he felt he could trust himself. Seokjin had followed him soon after, and Yoongi had just never bothered to leave his room unless it was meal times. They had all been surprised when Jeongguk had announced he was going to join Hobi and Jimin with meeting you. They had all assumed by his irritable mood he was starting to begin his cycle too, and despite trying to convince him to stay, the youngest boy had stubbornly ignored all warnings and ran off to catch up to the others. While Namjoon trusted that the other two could keep Jeongguk in his place he still had his own worries.
“She seemed kind of upset too.” Hoseok added with a frown, “We were all gonna play by the beach but she never caught up. When Jimin and I got to her again she ran off.”
Namjoon frowned, looking between the three that had been accompanying you today. The elder two looked confused, and a little upset that their time with you had been cut short. You had been walking them back to the hotel the last few days too. When his gaze finally fell on the youngest member he sighed. He had noticed the snake's change in behavior toward you, and he wasn’t all too sure if he saw it as a positive or not, but by the happy look on his face, Namjoon felt guilt hit him in the gut. He knew that look too well.
Jeongguk had a new toy, and it seemed to be you.
