Apartments still in need of a name...
So I’d been umming and ahhing over whether to build up in the downtown I created and move a couple of the graduates there... but in the end I decided to build up a little bit of Strangetown instead, to give it a town center area. So I’m making some semi-urban lots.
This is the block of apartments that Gunnar Roque is moving into. The ground floor is a ‘gym’ (a room with some exercise machines in it that counts as a communal area), a fake empty shop and a fake bookshop (though the bookcases are readable). Along the side of the lot is a fake road/alley that is actually a driveway. The back courtyard is pretty empty although there is a bbq and table & chairs.
The middle floor has a 2-bed apartment and a 1-bed apartment. The next floor has a 1 bed apartment and a studio apartment, and the top floor has another studio apartment. Gunnar is occupying the 2-bed. All of the rooms are tiny, furnished with the cheapest furniture and the ugliest decor. They range in price from 500ish to 900ish a week. It was my second attempt at building apartments (the trailer park was the first) so I’m still in a learning process, but I’m pretty happy with how they turned out. It has a semi-grungy feel while still being very maxis-match.
The lot you can see on the other side of the alley is a community lot which is a record shop and laundrette. Neither of which are particularly useful gameplay-wise, at the moment, but story-wise, it’s the record shop where Gunnar starts out working.
I’m working on some fancier apartments opposite these ones, so eventually this little bit of town will be a bit less empty. =)
