@kalliasofakielos “Othello au”
oh gosh, raph+leo+mikey are gonna be so confused putting together their family tree when their brother is the father figure to some of their parental figures
how do big mama and hueso react to othello's supposed death? which one of them figure out first that donnie is othello? for that matter, does donnie even know he's othello? i do hope he figures it out eventually and hugs draxum. after slapping him for reverting back to destroying humanity ofc
awww he's gonna get to see karai again :D bet she'll be furious at her family once she finds out about the curse
Definitely a bit of confusion, but they'd be more caught up in the fact that after the curse they didn't even know about is broken Othello doesn't really remember them.
Donnie's only fourteen years of memories are lost in Othello's over five centuries.
Draxum gets so caught up in his new plans he forgets to tell them. Hueso comes in to complain about why he hasn't gotten any of the coffee beans Othello has grown to sell, not because he's worried he hasn't seen his friend in weeks, learns first.
Since Draxum is…coping, even if questionably, Hueso is the one to break it to Big Mama.
She's in denial at first. Saying he shouldn't spout such sillybims about dadums. Once she finally accepts it she tears apart everything in sight. Even he's thrown into a wall. He's pretty sure the family connection is the only reason he's not dead.
Draxum finds out Othello is alive first. When the turtles go to get Mayhem back, he sees the four turtles he- Wait. Four? But there were only three!
He takes the time to look at them all carefully, finally finding the odd one out. His eyes widen in realization.
Draxum almost didn't recognize him. He's practically naked! He's seen enough of that after Othello somehow managed to spontaneously combust.
…He's so small. How can something like that grow to be someone as intimidating as his mentor? Are those eyebrows drawn on his mask? It's so absurd it screams Othello more than anything.
Othello isn't paying any attention to what's going on. Sometimes, there'll be a quick glance in his direction, but Draxum never sees any recognition.
It would seem his plans have changed. His new goal is to do whatever it takes to restore his mentor to his former glory. If they're so keen to stop him he can use "destroy humanity" as a way to get his creations to keep coming back and bringing Othello with them.
Othello with be so happy to see Karai again. The last time she saw him, though, he was the size of a four-year-old, so it took her a while to recognize him. Especially since he'd be back to giant eight-foot-tall yokai.
He didn't take her looking at him but not seeing him very well.
Karai would be furious at the ancestors if Othello told her. She gave everything for them and he doesn't want to ruin her sacrifice.
So he says he left not long after she was sealed, not telling her why, and accepted her scolding and disappointment about him abandoning the family when they needed to stay together more than ever.
Something Karai feels horrible about later when she does find out the truth.
Othello AU: Summary Part 1
Okay, there is a lot when it comes to the Othello AU, including multiple what-if scenarios, so he's the basic summary.
We start over five centuries ago. Karai trying to find what keeps attacking the cattle and stealing crops finds a small yokai. It's the size of a three-year-old and resembles a turtle. She eventually gains his trust and calls him Kappa. Because I fully believe Karai, like Splinter and his colors, is bad at naming things. It's hereditary.
Karai takes Kappa in as if he was her own child and raises him. He's smart and quickly learns to speak and fight from her. She also teaches him to sew, care for the animals, and garden to better appreciate the crops and fabric so sees how much effort goes into taking care of them so he's less careless with them.
The rest of the clan, do not like the Kappa. It's unpredictable and dangerous. They've seen the massive creatures it has destroyed and brought back as "gifts" for Karai. Without her to control it what's to keep it from turning on them?
A couple of decades after finding Kappa Karai sacrifices herself to seal Shredder. Kappa growing slower than the human only appears to be about four or five. Karai asked him to protect the other child and can she left behind. He can't though because the clan banished him and cursed him so he can't harm them. The amount of power in the spell weakens the Hamato clan when the foot clan starts hunting them down.
Kappa survived on their own for centuries after. Fighting to survive and avoiding the Hamato clan. No one called them Kappa in a long time. So when stories started spreading of a large turtle yokai of devastating intelligence, size, and strength people came up with names for him. Othello is the one that stuck around.
Everywhere he went there was only fear in people's eyes. Othello spent most of his time trying to come up with a way to make more creatures like himself so he wouldn't be alone anymore.
His experiments were put on hold when a little lamb came seeking him out looking for his help trying to eradicate humans. After pointing out the flaws in young Draxum's plans the poor creature looked so lost. Othello let him stay until he figured things out. He teaches Draxum about fighting, science, and alchemy in the meantime. Draxum never did leave.
Neither did the little lady. A young spider yokai who wanted Othello's help in ruling with intimidation. She never did tell him her real name, only calling herself Big Mama. She seemed to make herself right at home sitting on Othello's shoulder.
Draxum and Big Mama are constantly at odds. Othello even has to stop several of Big Mama's attempts on Draxum's life. Draxum never did outgrow taking her things without permission.
When Big Mama moved out to start her business Draxum stayed behind to watch over Othello. That sounds ridiculous considering he's one of the oldest and strongest known yokai. Yet Draxum once had to hunt Othello down because he snuck out of bed and found him out in the garden. Along with some skeleton he never met before!
Hueso had broken into Othello's garden because of the rare herbs Othello grew. He saw Othello also sneaking around because he wanted to garden, not sleep and thought he was also trying to steal. Othello wanted to see where this went and helped Hueso rob him until Draxum caught them both. Othello will always treasure the look on Hueso's face when he learns who he was sneaking around with.
Othello thinks the bone man is amusing and won't leave him alone. The dumb lizard.
There's a lot more, but tired of typing. More later.
@eclecticexperthottub RIP yeah I kno it’s kinda hard to make it work myself bc I love em sm and I kno tht they love each other a lot. And since it’s an au where Laurent has no undertones for disliking Damen (unless Damen still somehow killed his brother???), it’s hard to imagine either of them killing each other. Especially when Damen is such an overwhelmingly loyal lover (and like,,,,so is Laurent).
I can see Laurent getting jealous!! That’d be very interesting. I especially can see him being edged on by his Uncle, not because he 100% believes him, but because he is so easily irritated by him. Each accusal of Damen’s betrayal would probably hurt him just as much.
I can definitely see the similarities between Damen and Desdemona. It only makes sense, women were treated similar to slaves in the sense of be quiet and live the life you’re given. Captures and stuck as u will. However that would incline that Laurent doesn’t treat Damen as his equal, or treats him like a slave, which I couldn’t imagine Laurent doing because he hates slavery. I could see Damen do it to Laurent, accidentally, because he’s used to old ugly habits. Also both Othello and Damen are POC.
But boy oh boy this is so interesting!! Like my heart is being slowly ripped out of my chest but I’m also thriving,,,,,,

Bonnie was half asleep, lying in her bed. She had wanted to stay awake for Klaus, but he quickly clarified that he would come late to bed or not at all. She shouldn't be waiting for him.
At first she didn't notice the other's body climbing into the bed and slipping underneath the covers, until she was met with a soft pair of lips that kissed her. Bonnie's eyes shot up, looking surprised at the original vampire. Her shock faded quickly as she began to return his kiss, gently cupping his face between her small hands. After a moment she pulled away, smiling genuinely happy at the blond male. "For a moment I thought you wouldn't come to bed, my lord. But you did not disappoint me. I'm glad you came." She whispered softly before she wrapped her arms around him, snuggling into his chest. She would sleep much better now. It was warmer too.
