FNAF SB AU || Hide & Seek
So, it seems the ref may have been a little too niche or obscure, but recently I've been thinking about an old movie that premiered when I was around 8 or 9. It was one of the first 3d animated films that tried to mimic the look of 2d animation.
KakuRenBo centered around the game Otokoyo, or the Man Hunt, hide and seek. The game takes place in an old abandoned town. Children can find the entrance by following the signs "O-To-Ko-Yo" and be sure to wear a fox mask to participate. Once seven kids arrive, the game begins.
All the kids in the movie have their own reasons for playing, whether it's a move to show bravery or to find something they lost.
The protagonist is playing to look for his sister who played in the last game, but never returned.
The movie's theme is a loss of the natural and old aesthetics as industrialization and modernization take place. Which I think would mesh nicely with FNAF SB, not to mention child murder and possession.
THE ROLES
Gregory would be the main protagonist obviously. He is playing in hope of finding where all the missing kids went/are that previously played.
Vanny/Vanessa will be the eighth child/"It". The last demon to be dealt with after the other five pick off the children. This demon also tempts kids into playing and can wander outside the play area. They also passing the role of "It" to the last child standing.
Sun and Moon will be the demon twins, the "Bone Taker" and "Oil-taker." They are the most human looking, except for their eerie masks, jointed limbs, and claws. They chatter and click, movements reminding of a wooden doll. You will know they are near by when you hear bells. They love chasing down the kids.
Sun has a cauldron that they chucks the bones and cartilage of his prey into to boil for glue. They take care of repairs around the play area.
Moon has a tank that spins his prey and drains the oil from their skin. They fill the lamps and keep the area lit, as well as use the oil for lubricant for joints and mechanical parts.
Out of the two, Sun is the more cruel to be caught by. Moon at least will knock the child out, Sun wants their prey awake through the deboning.
DJ MM is the "Child Taker." A big, overwhelming spider-like demon that hunts the children from above, then swoops in, wraps them in silk, and carries them away. I picture him as a big mask resembling MM's face with eight limbs coming off it.
Chica as the "Liver Taker." For fun, why not an amalgamation of all the more gluttonous versions. This demon has six legs and six arms. Three of the arms hold a wheel that resembles pizza. One arm holds a butcher's knife. The last two are three. She needs one last topping and that is whatever poor child's liver she gets her hands on.
Monty and Roxy will be the "Blood Takers." They work together to drain children of their blood and fill the tanks they each carry. Monty's speed and claws, combined with Roxy's keen sight, make them a pair to reckon with. Appearance wise, I'm not too sure yet.
Veering from the established roles in the movie, Freddy would be a sixth demon. Haven't decided on a name, but he normally wanders the halls, gathering up the corpses in his body, and taking them back to the center. For this game, he is not feeling like himself.
I can't decide if I want the dead children from the original game and books to be the other five kids playing with him for the current game. Leaning more towards random kids.
SETTING
I like the idea of a more futuristic setting. The game takes place in the Plex that is on the edge of the city, abandoned. Or it's supposed to be abandoned. People swear they see things moving and that the place is lit up at times. Some nights it shines so brightly it's like a beacon.
I also like the idea that the demons have animatronic influence, so not completely organic creatures.
THE GAME
The game plays much the same as in the movie. Only difference is the kids can wear masks based on more than foxes: rabbits, dragons, wolves, fowl, bears, etc.
Their goal is simply to survive. Don't be found. Don't be caught.
The last one standing is the next to be "It." They will be offered the mask of the previous seeker and be possessed by the demon.
THE LOSERS
Those who are caught are brought to the lowest floor in the Plex and placed in a cylinder. This cylinder will drain the child's soul and power the Plex and the Demons within it.
I'm still thinking of the story, but it was just a tempting idea. The two were so complimentary and I love KakuRenBo so much, I wanted to mash them together.
