This is a bliaut style shift/chemise. The bliaut is historically an overdress, but when it's hot out and you really want to serve cunt you can use it as a single layer or a base layer in linen. Armstreet has a costume using this as the base called the archeress with a linen overdress and a bodice type thing over that.
