"It's beautiful," Shane says from behind him. "All of it is, really. This whole damn world."

He comes around and sits next to Ryan. The two of them sit and look out over the water for a while, watching the sun soak into the sea and the sky fade out to an impossible shade of violet. "How'd you get out of the house?" Ryan asks.

A folly, a foible and tumblr

Hey there hi there hello there how are ya!

Wanted to make this post because I tried to answer an ask from @africaneuropean and tumblr deceived me and then deleted my second answer.

So! Thanks to this lovely person I've been informed that the frat name I chose for the frat in oh, try to break me down is actually the name of an existing frat which is the first black fraternity!

I used a random frat name generator, and obviously didn't do my due diligence and research existing frats before writing. So because Ryan isn't black, Shane isn't human (but does not have a deeper skin tone) and Gabe is not black; and because the other frat members are minor characters; and because I don't want to co-opt historical real black accomplishments for fictional non-black people I'm going to change it!

Thank you so much for letting me know! I truly appreciate getting comments like this and I don't think it's nitpicky to point out anything that doesn't sit right in my works. My fandom space will always be one which is open to comment, critique, discourse, and correction.

3. What is your favourite line of narration?

"There are telephone poles along the sidewalk outside. As the sun sets the shadows shift and the fierce straight lines of the shadowed telephone lines seem to drop from the ceiling and reach around the Father’s neck."

Not a line, but particularly powerful and thematic narration. I love how this ties together several recurring images.

7. Where did the title come from?

The title is the opening line to the song Random EMO Top Line Generator by EURINGER.  Which I highly recommend. I chose the title because my original idea for the demon!Shane fic relied a lot more heavily on themes which have ended up taking a backseat; mostly Ryan dealing with being closeted and fearing that Shane's presence is meant to tempt him.

11. What do you like best about this fic?

I love how different it is to anything else I've ever written. The imagery and themes are so unique among my works and it's given me an opportunity to explore different genres and tones.
