Otto Funk walked from New York City to San Francisco between June 28, 1928 and July 25,1929. He walked 4165 miles and played his fiddle the whole way. He was struck by a rattlesnake in Arizona. He slew the snake and took its rattle for a souvenir, then walked to the doctor's office for treatment before finishing his journey.
